Psychology students and lecturers discuss how to organize living space in a pandemic

On November 18, scientific and pedagogical staff of the Department of Psychology and Pedagogy of National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic" implemented an international communication exchange program and held a round table "Ergodesign of living space", devoted to the problem of organizing educational and living space.

On the occasion of the International Student’s Day and the 203rd anniversary of the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic", scientific and pedagogical staff of the Department of Psychology and Pedagogy of the Faculty of Physical Culture and Sports of the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic" – Head of the Department of Psychology and Pedagogy Svitlana Yalanska, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor Nataliia Saiko, Candidate of Psychological Sciences, Associate Professor Nina Atamanchuk, Candidate of Psychological Sciences, Associate Professor Yurii Horbenko, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor Lesia Klevaka and specialist Oleksander Kornilov held a round table "Ergodesign of living space" in the framework of international communicative exchange. 

Scientists and practitioners of state institutions and public organizations took part in the active discussion on the issues of formation, functioning and development of living space, as well as presented the main cases of creating an educational, living environment in contemporary conditions. The participants of the round table were greeted by Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Dean of the Faculty of Physical Culture and Sports of Poltava Polytechnic Professor Lina Rybalko; Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities Anna Aheicheva; M.A. in Biology-Systematics and Ecology, Teaching Ecologist and Doctoral Student in Educational Sustainability, Project Central and University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point (United States of America) Wilson Shari L.; Director of the Inclusive Education Resource Center of Dykansky District Council of Poltava Region Victoriia Humeniuk; Chief Specialist of the Department of Education, of Culture, Youth, Sports and Tourism of Romodanivka Village Council of Myrhorod District of Poltava Region Yuliia Hordiienko and practical psychologist of the University Victoriia Datsenko, as well as future practical psychologists, preschool specialists, ergotherapists and specialists in physical culture and sports, students of the Faculty of Humanities and foreign students. During the event, a consistent translation into English was provided by a student of the Faculty of Humanities Ania Reva.

"Traditionally, every year lecturers of the Department of Psychology and Pedagogy of Poltava Polytechnic hold a number of educational as well as popular scientific events aimed at raising awareness of modern youth and the older generation in the field of maintaining psychological balance and their own mental health. The topic of this year's round table was chosen not by chance, as the problem of energy design of living, educational and professional space is becoming increasingly relevant due to the dynamic spread of the COVID-19 pandemic in the world. I wish the participants scientific enthusiasm, life inspiration and fruitful scientific discussions!" – opened the round table Doctor of Psychology, Head of the Department of Psychology and Pedagogy of the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic", Professor Svitlana Yalanska.

According to Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Dean of the Faculty of Physical Culture and Sports, Professor Lina Rybalko, it is extremely important to draw public attention to solving the problem of ergodesign of living space. After all, it is significant for each individual to understand the complex processes of formation, functioning and development of the necessary living space, and work on creating an educational environment is a continuous process, which requires a lot of effort. It is important to respond in time to new challenges of life, to find new opportunities, and resources for generating ideas.

Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities Anna Aheicheva stressed the importance of gaining practical experience in ergodesign of living space. In her opinion, the improvement of knowledge on the organization of personal life has become the key to full development of personality, the center of successful, creative and happy people.

American scientist Shari Wilson focused on the importance of composing and designing the environment, talked about the peculiarities of shaping artificial space using environmental principles, highlighted the ergonomics of designing housing and public environments, creating comfortable living conditions for the individual. The speaker also stressed the importance of systematizing ergodesign principles and ways to implement them in the design of housing and public environment.

Candidate of Psychological Sciences, Associate Professor of Psychology and Pedagogy Nina Atamanchuk informed the partakers of the online event on ensuring the rights and opportunities of people with special educational needs at the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic". The speaker noted that the university creates conditions for ensuring the rights and opportunities of people with special educational needs to receive education at all levels, taking into account their individual needs, capabilities, abilities and interests, based on the principles of non-discrimination, multiplicity of a person, effective involvement and inclusion of all its participants in the educational process.

The educational space of Poltava Polytechnic ergonomically combines environmental conditions and innovative technologies. In particular, at the Department of Psychology and Pedagogy of the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic" during the students' independent work, the preparation of creative reports on psychology, health psychology and healthy lifestyle, a unique opportunity is given to work on the territory of the university, performing a number of art-eco-practices in the so-called "green classrooms".

Svitlana Yalanska, Doctor of Psychology, Professor, Head of the Department of Psychology and Pedagogy, and Danylo Hanichenko, a first-year student of the specialty "Psychology " of the Faculty of Physical Culture and Sports of Poltava Polytechnic, presented a joint report "Ergodesign of Living Space". In the speech, the co-speakers drew attention to the successful implementation of energy design projects at the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic". In particular, on the personal initiative of the Rector, Professor Volodymyr Onyshchenko and the university's partner, DTEK Oil&Gas, an innovative DTEK Alley location was opened, a large-scale platform for various events.

At the end of the event, the organizers thanked the speakers for interesting reports, initiative and active participation in scientific discussions and agreed on priority areas for further scientific and educational cooperation between Ukrainian and foreign partners.

Previously, lecturers and students of the Faculty of Humanities learned how to deal with stress and restore psychological balance.

It should be recalled that Poltava Polytechnic is working on a large-scale social project for people with disabilities "Artsport", and the German delegation visited the Polytechnic within the framework of the project and discussed the directions of further cooperation.
