According to the decision of the Senate of Bialystok University of Technology (Poland), Rector of National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic”, Professor Volodymyr Onyshchenko was awarded the title of the Honorary Professor at one of the most progressive European partner universities, Bialystok University of Technology, for the long fruitful cooperation in education and science, the successful realization of international educational projects and the popularization of academic mobility among students and scientists. The Senate also awarded honorary titles to Professor Li Zhongxian, Rector of Tianjin Chengjian University, and Professor David Gurgenidze, Rector of Georgian University of Technology.
The title of the Honorary Professor of Bialystok University of Technology is awarded by the Rector after the discussion with the Senate to the people closely connected with Bialystok University of Technology, who influenced the creation of favorable conditions for its operation and development and enriched the achievements of the university. The awarding of the title is a form of gratefulness that the university community would like to express. The Honorary Professor title has been awarded 11 times through the history of Bialystok University of Technology, twice - to the professors of foreign universities.
During the meeting ceremony of the Senate, former rector of Bialystok University of Technology, Professor Lech Dzenis presented Volodymyr Onyshchenko’s achievements and the history of close cooperation between the universities in education and science, as well as in the introduction of innovations.
“It is an honor for me to present him as a scientist with a large number of publications, great achievements, a wonderful teacher, a person with amazing organizational skills, known in the international scientific community, a person who develops strategic partnership between science and business. As scientific advisor, Professor Volodymyr Onyshchenko trained specialists who received scientific titles in engineering and economics. He is the author of 26 monographs, more than 250 articles and 15 patents. He heads a powerful school of thought, is the author of 15 student books and the scientific advisor of 5 doctoral and 30 PhD theses. It is important to mention that Rector Volodymyr Onyshchenko initiated the signing of the contracts of cooperation between Ukrainian and Polish universities, including the contract with Bialystok University of Technology. The contract was signed in 2014 during the Ukrainian-Polish Forum “Technological Education for the Future of Europe”, when the Rectors of Ukrainian technological higher education institution and Polish technical universities met. Especially important was the signing of the contract on scientific and academic student mobility. It started the unique partnership between Bialystok University of Technology, National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic" and the Institute of Technology of Tianjin Chengjian University in China, which resulted in the organization of the Ukrainian-Polish-Chinese summer school for logistics students in 2016. This trio also worked on the development of the International Summer School of Architecture. The development of further projects that connect National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” and Bialystok University of Technology has been the responsibility of the Ukrainian-Polish Center opened at the Ukrainian university in 2017,” Professor Lech Dzenis said. He also reminded that in 2019 National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” represented Poltava region at a large-scale diplomatic conference in Warsaw held in order to strengthen the cooperation between the European business and the local self-government. Students have the opportunity to study abroad with the dual diploma program - National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” has joined graduate study programs in civil engineering, management, economics and business administration with Bialystok University of Technology.
Professor Volodymyr Onyshchenko delivered a speech, in which he thanked his colleagues for the unique experience and fruitful cooperation.
Rector of Bialystok University of Technology Marta Kasior-Kazberuk performed the honorary mission of reading the decision on awarding the title, demonstrated the diplomas with her signature and thanked for accepting the award. On the occasion of the 90th anniversary of Poltava Polytechnic, the Rector sent congratulations with good wishes for new achievements in cooperation with the world academic community.
The Choir of Bialystok University of Technology congratulated the foreign scientists by performing in their native language for every of the Honorary Professor, and they sang the legendary shchedrivka by Mykola Leontovych for Volodymyr Onyshchenko.
