On February 25, the All-Ukrainian Sports Billiards Competition "Free Pyramid" – Rector's Cup of the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic" started in the sports billiards club of the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic" in compliance with all safety conditions. Scientific and pedagogical workers of Ukrainian higher education institutions became participants in the cup.
The competition began solemnly, and the participants were greeted by the Rector of the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic", Doctor of Economics, Professor Volodymyr Onyshchenko, Honorary Professor of the Poltava Polytechnic, Judge of the international category in sports billiards, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor, Chief Judge of the competition Oleksandr Beznosiuk and Dean of the Faculty of Physical Culture and Sports, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor Lina Rybalko.
"It is extremely pleasant that we continue the good old traditions of our university and hold the rector's cup "Free Pyramid". I thank you for being here today at the Poltava Polytechnic. A year ago, on February 25, we could not even dream that we would be able to gather and hold this tournament a year later. Despite the air raid alarms, we will continue to implement all our plans. Yesterday at the university, on the occasion of the tragic anniversary of the full-scale invasion of the aggressor country on the territory of Ukraine, we opened the Indomitability Point, as a symbol of the invincibility of the Ukrainian people, who amaze the whole world with their desire to win Victory over the enemy. The university is conducting this academic year offline, thereby fulfilling our mobilization task. In the same way, today's opening of the tournament confirms that we are indomitable and continue to live normal life despite the war. And we owe this to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Today, I wish everyone to show their abilities as much as possible, show their skills, implement their plans, and there is only one plan – Victory, one for all. And your victory is a contribution to our common cause.

I wish everyone positive emotions, drive and good luck. Glory to Ukraine!" – congratulated the athletes Rector Volodymyr Onyshchenko.
The Rector of Poltava Polytechnic Volodymyr Onyshchenko was solemnly awarded the Diploma of the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine, the Diploma of the Committee on Physical Education and Sports of the Ministry of Education and Culture of Ukraine "For the development of billiard sports among schoolchildren, students, scientific and pedagogical workers in higher education institutions" and the right to start the game by breaking the pyramid.
Also, the chief judge of the competition presented awards for the 1st place of the team of the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic" in the team standings of the Championship of Ukraine "Scientific Elite" among scientific and pedagogical workers in billiards "Free Pyramid".
"Dear contestants, I am very glad that we have met again in this beautiful hall. 2022 was a very intense year, the Rector's Cup competition was constantly postponed. But still, we conducted it, and we are conducting it again now.
Since the summer, all our competitions in the association of academic staff of higher education have been charitable. We have already raised 400 thousand hryvnias for our defenders. We have five athletes-teachers who are defending our country in hot spots. We are proud of them and continue to help them. We believe in the Armed Forces of Ukraine and in our Victory. I wish all the participants to show the best result," – wished Oleksandr Beznosiuk.

As of the end of February, the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic" was ranked second in the team ranking of the Higher Education Institutions of Ukraine among academic staff in billiards for the year 2023, with a double margin from the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. The top three are headed by the Ivan Chernyakhovsky National Defense University of Ukraine.
It should be recalled that on the same day, the regional kickboxing championship took place on the basis of the Poltava Polytechnic.
Recently, the Open Championship of the Poltava region in weightlifting took place at the Polytechnic.
