Regional festival “Mum, Dad, Me – Active Family” takes place at Polytechnic

On 18 May, Regional Festival “Mum, Dad, Me – Active Family”, organised by Poltava Regional Centre for Physical Health “Sport for All”, took place in the gymnasium of the National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic”. 12 sports families from 12 communities of Poltava region took part in the competition, and the winning family will perform at the All-Ukrainian Festival.

For the second year in a row, National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” has been a large-scale sports ground for the regional festival “Mom, Dad, Me – Active Family”, where sports families from different territorial communities of the Poltava region compete for the championship.

On 18 May 2024, with the support of the Poltava Regional Military Administration, the Department of Youth and Sports of Poltava Regional Military Administration and the National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic”, 12 sports families from 12 communities of Poltava region actively competed for the title of the most sporty and promoted family leisure. Families from the Poltava, Horishni Plavni, Velyki Budyshcha, Shcherbani, Myrhorod, Sencha, Mashivka, Krasna Luka, Pishchane, Orzhytsia, Bilyky and Kobeliaky communities demonstrated excellent physical fitness and a strong desire to win.

The sporting event was traditionally organised by the Poltava Regional Centre for Physical Health “Sport for All”, which held the regional festival “Mom, Dad, Me – Active Family” as part of the All-Ukrainian Mental Health Programme “How Are You?”, implemented at the initiative of First Lady Olena Zelenska.

The participants of the sporting event were greeted by Dean of Faculty of Physical Culture and Sports, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor Lina Rybalko, Acting Director of Poltava Regional Centre for Physical Health “Sport for All” Oleksandr Ivanov, and Head of Poltava Polytechnic Sports Club, Master of Sports of International Class of Ukraine in military and sports all-around Nikita Solovei, who noted the importance of useful and meaningful leisure time with their families and the growing role of sports in the face of constant stress, anxiety and difficult modern challenges.

The participants paid tribute to the fallen defenders and civilians killed as a result of russian military aggression with a minute of silence. The participants’ dress on the national blue and yellow flag to the sound of the national anthem showed their deep respect for their strong nation, which is currently defending its independence and freedom in a difficult struggle.

The families competed in various sports competitions: “Coordinated Running with the Ball”, “Show Your Endurance”, “Hitting the Target”, “Nimble Family”, “Dad Can Do It, Mom Can Do It, I Can Do It”, “Together We Will Win”, and “Show Your Strength”. The competition began with an active, mobile warm-up, which was eagerly joined by all those present.

According to the results of the competition, the top three were as follows:

  • I place – the Hoshkovych family (Horishni Plavni TC);
  • II place – the Hrishyn family (Poltava TC);
  • III place – the Blyzniuk family (Velyki Budyshcha TC).

As a result, the winning family will represent Poltava at the All-Ukrainian Festival.

Recently, students of Poltava Polytechnic became silver and bronze medallists of the European Arm Wrestling Championships, and the Contemporary Choreography Studio of Poltava Polytechnic “DWIZH” invites students to the casting.
