Registration for the state language proficiency exam is to open

National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” has been appointed a specially authorized institution to conduct examinations for the state language proficiency level. Civil servants, heads of educational institutions of all forms of ownership and others will be able to pass exams at Poltava Polytechnic and receive an indefinite state certificate of the UMD series.

Poltava Polytechnic had signed an agreement with the National Commission on State Language Standards and become a testing center for determining the level of state language proficiency.

“National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” has extensive experience in conducting exams to determine the state language proficiency level for those applying for civil service. Commission consisting of scientists from the Department of the Ukrainian Studies, Culture and Documentation worked at the University during 2017-2019. On the eve of the exams, consultations were organized, discussing topical issues of modern vocabulary, grammar, punctuation, speech culture.

Now the scientific and pedagogical staff of the Department of the Ukrainian Studies, Culture and Documentation is ready to provide qualified assistance to everyone wishing to pass the exam and determine the state language proficiency level. Exams themselves will take place three times a week in the comfortable conditions of one of the Poltava Polytechnic language centers,” comments Anna Aheicheva, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities.

Article 9 of the Law of Ukraine “On Ensuring the Functioning of the Ukrainian Language as the State Language” establishes an exhaustive list of persons who are obliged to speak the state language and use it in the performance of their official duties. Civil servants of all levels, heads of local state administrations, their first deputies and deputies, chiefs (middle and senior) of the National Police, other law enforcement and intelligence agencies, officials of other bodies to which special ranks are assigned, prosecutors, heads of educational institutions of all forms property, as well as applicants for civil servants positions and candidates for Ukrainian citizenship must certify their state language proficiency level by state certificate, which is issued by the National Commission on State Language Standards from July 16, 2021.

To obtain a state language proficiency certificate, which is valid indefinitely, you must:

  • register online on the portal of the National Commission on State Language Standards, indicating your name, date, place and time of the exam (out of the proposed options);
  • pass the exam at the National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic”, using a specially developed exam system.

The program, task samples and examination procedure were developed by the National Commission on State Language Standards. The exam for those who need to confirm the state language proficiency level for the performance of official duties lasts 2 hours and covers four parts: “Language Culture” and “Reading”, “Writing” and “Speaking”.
