On June 9, Vice-Rector for International and Scientific Work of the National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic”, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Olena Stepova and Dean of the Faculty of Philology, Psychology and Pedagogy, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor Anna Aheicheva took part in the work of the international conference “Internationalisation as the Key to Resilience and Rebuilding: Twinning Anniversary”, which took place in the city of Lviv. It should be noted that the large-scale scientific and educational event took place within the framework of the anniversary of the project, initiated by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and with the full support of the rector of the Poltava Polytechnic, Professor Volodymyr Onyshchenko.
It should be recalled that the signing of cooperation agreements between Ukrainian and British universities took place on June 28, 2022, during the Ukrainian-British conference “UK-Ukraine Twinning Initiative”. The participants of the international conference discussed strategic and mutually beneficial areas of cooperation between Ukrainian and British universities, and foreign partners expressed solidarity with the Ukrainian people in the liberation struggle against the invaders and assured the full support of Ukrainian scientists. The international scientific event took place with the full assistance and support of British partner universities, the governments of Great Britain and Ukraine, and the Cormack Consultancy Group, which promotes the internationalisation of higher education.
During the opening of the conference, inspirational messages were shared by the Director of CEE+ Cormack Consultancy Group Gintaras Steponavicius, the Vice-Rector for Scientific Work of the Lviv Polytechnic National University Nataliia Chukhrai, the Head of the Expert Group of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine Hryhorii Mozolevych, the Head of the Association of British Universities Vivien Stern, Plenipotentiary of the President of Ukraine for the Fund of the President of Ukraine for the Support of Education, Science and Sports Olha Budnyk, and the Head of the Association of Universities of Great Britain International Jamie Arrowsmith.
Practitioners and reputable scientists from leading universities from different parts of the world actively participated in the fruitful scientific discussion and deliberation on current issues of European higher education. And the scientists of the Poltava Polytechnic Olena Stepova and Anna Aheicheva presented the prospects of cooperation of the leading partner universities as well as shared successful practical cases of training future specialists within the walls of one of the best multidisciplinary classical universities of our country. It is worth noting that at this prestigious scientific meeting, the Poltava region was represented exclusively by the Poltava Polytechnic.
“Poltava Polytechnic started cooperation with the leading British higher education institution – National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” signed a Memorandum of Understanding with London Metropolitan University (Great Britain) as part of the large-scale international project “Unity Initiative”!
London Metropolitan University is a metropolitan public research university created 20 years ago by merging the University of North London (formerly North London Polytechnic) and the London Guildhall University (formerly the London Polytechnic University), but the origins of the university date back to 1848. Currently, it is a modern university with wide opportunities.
Poltava Polytechnic has been cooperating with British universities for a long time, but no one could have imagined the terrible trouble we would find ourselves in, but we will be supported and we will find new friends. It is very motivating to gain new partners who help to maintain our educational front,” – noted the Vice-Rector for International and Scientific Work of the National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic”, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Olena Stepova.
It should be noted that the Twinning Initiative programme is aimed at building sustainable partnerships between British and Ukrainian institutions and is an effective way to simultaneously respond to urgent needs and support the Ukrainian higher education sector in the long term.

It should be recalled that last year the Polytechnic signed a Memorandum and will cooperate with the London Metropolitan University.
Earlier, scientists of the Poltava Polytechnic successfully completed an internship under the Erasmus+ programme on the basis of a Romanian partner university, university students and teachers became participants in an international educational online project with a Dutch partner university, university scientists held a master class on writing grant applications, sharing stories of successful participation in Erasmus+ projects, young scientists from higher education institutions discussed academic integrity in Ukraine and abroad, and a scientist from the partner University of London shared effective professional cases with young people and Polytechnic teachers.
