The Interregional Scientific Space Bridge “Scientists of Ukraine are united. Together we are stronger” took place on the basis of the Cherkasy State Technological University – in the conditions of martial law, scientists from partner universities of ChSTU from Chernihiv, Kharkiv, Mykolaiv, Sumy, Kyiv and Poltava united by means of visual communication (National Technical University “Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute”, National Technical University of Ukraine “Kyiv Polytechnic Institute named after Igor Sikorsky”, National Aerospace University H.E. Zhukovsky “Kharkiv Aviation Institute”, Sumy State University, Chernihiv Polytechnic National University, Admiral Makarov National University of Shipbuilding, National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic”). The participants discussed the challenges that Ukrainian scientists have to face now, the organization of the work of technical universities in the conditions of war, challenges, achievements and the educational process.

“Science and scientific activity are a powerful mechanism that is a prerequisite for the development of a successful, prosperous state. In this difficult time for our country, each of us on our front is making maximum efforts, bringing the Victory closer. We are training specialists, professionals in their field, who will restore, revive and rebuild our Ukraine,” – said ChDTU rector Oleh Hryhor.

Poltava Polytechnic was presented by Vice-Rector for Scientific and International Work Svitlana Sivitska.

“February 24, 2022 – this day changed the life of Ukraine forever. From the first days of the war, our university rallied to support the university staff, students, and their families. The rector of the university – Volodymyr Onyshchenko, organized the smooth operation of the university.

Every day, steps were taken and are being taken to support our state, the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the displaced persons, and the Volunteer Headquarters of the university continues its work. The educational process at the university was carried out in an asynchronous mode so that every student receiving higher education had the opportunity to participate in the educational process.

As part of the internal academic mobility programs, almost 20 students receiving higher education are studying at the Poltava Polytechnic. Our students continue their studies under academic mobility programs in foreign institutions of higher education.

Even before the war, the university worked on the introduction of dual education among the 44 universities of the country designated by the Ministry of Education and Science. Despite the difficult circumstances and military operations, the National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic”, PJSC “NAFTOGAZVYDOBUVANNYA” and students who switched to a dual form of education, signed trilateral agreements as part of the implementation of the order of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine. Specialists are being engaged to hold open lectures for students of higher education. The university does everything in order to provide high-quality training of specialists.

One of the main tasks is to preserve the scientific personnel potential of higher education institutions. Training of scientific personnel continues, postgraduate students continue their research and studies, preparation for dissertation defences is underway as well. The work of the scientific schools of the university continues, and in response to the challenges of the times, the directions of scientific research are being reoriented in order to rebuild our state and overcome the consequences of military actions. The professional publications of the university did not stop their functioning.

From April 25 to May 20, 2022, the traditional 16th All-Ukrainian Science Festival will be held at the National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic”. 12 international, all-Ukrainian and university events are planned in the festival program – we invite colleagues to participate,” – said Vice-Rector Svitlana Sivitska, thanking for inviting her and giving the opportunity to present the National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic”.

Students – heads of student scientific societies of universities – also took part in the interregional scientific space bridge, since youth and science are crucial components of Ukraine's development prospects. The goal of educators is to create the necessary conditions for the education and development of young people, popularize scientific activity and educate patriots.

A student scientific society operates at the National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” as well. Currently, more than 3,000 students are engaged in research work in scientific clubs, of which there are more than 50 at the university. In addition, students are involved in inventive activities. The student scientific community of the Poltava Polytechnic was represented by President of the Student Parliament Liudmyla Bylym.

“Research work of students in today’s conditions is an important component of university education. During the period since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the russian federation, the students of the Poltava Polytechnic continued to engage in scientific activities, realizing that our front today is quality education. During the period of hostilities, a student round table was held at the university for the International Day of Human Space Flight, scientific clubs resumed their work. More than 30 student researches have already been prepared for the All-Ukrainian competition of student research papers in various fields of knowledge. Students continue to participate in international scientific and practical conferences held on the basis of partner universities of the Polytechnic, and have also prepared more than 150 abstracts of reports for participation in the 74th Scientific Conference of Professors, Teachers, Research Workers, Postgraduate Students and University Students on the basis of the National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic”. Meetings of scientific clubs take place both online and offline, in which students take part, as well as leading production specialists and stakeholders of relevant educational programs are invited.

Russia’s brutal aggression, unfortunately, made many adjustments to our plans of activity as a student self-government. During these 55 days of heroic struggle of the Armed Forces of Ukraine against the occupier, we learned to quickly respond to life's challenges. Now we are convinced of Ukraine’s victory as soon as possible and are making plans for a peaceful future,” – noted Liudmyla Bylym.

In their speeches, the scientists emphasized that nothing will make them lose hope, stop their scientific activities, training the specialists our country needs. The war is a catalyst for the scientific potential of the country, and the future of our country depends on the response to today’s challenges.

It should be recalled that the university continues to lead among Poltava higher education institutions in the rating of scientific activity, the rector of Cherkasy State Technological University visited Polytechnic, Poltava Polytechnic and Karazin University signed an agreement on cooperation under martial law.
