“Educational process in a distance-asynchronous format has been resumed at the university. In wartime, this is not easy, but it is real and important in regions where it is relatively calm. The university distance learning platform Moodle contains all teaching materials for the disciplines studied in the relevant educational programs. These materials are available at any time of the day. Each lecturer, if necessary, can provide advice on the subject. Curators of academic groups constantly cooperate with students. Remember to follow all safety precautions! If necessary, we use the tools of psychological self-help and help others. Good luck in your studies!!! Take care of yourself and your family! Our VICTORY lies in UNITY and MUTUAL SUPPORT!” – commented the Head of the Department of Psychology and Pedagogy, Doctor of Psychology, Professor Svitlana Yalanska.
Scientists-psychologists advise to regulate breathing, remember about the creative potential of the body and engage in physical activity:
1. During anxiety, panic attacks, our breathing becomes “shallow” – chest, during which the failure of optimal oxygen supply to the body happens, which leads to complications in the operating of functional systems and exhaustion. Deep breathing maintains the psychophysiological state of human health in the optimum. Proper breathing techniques help to enrich the body's cells, including the brain, with oxygen, which helps to calm down, help relieve tension and overcome stress. Regulate breathing: try to take a deep breath (4 seconds), hold your breath (4 seconds), deep exhale at chest and abdomen (up to 8 seconds). Repeat several times!
2. During martial law, it is worth remembering about the creative potential of our body, which promotes psychological self-defense and is an effective tool for psychological self-help.
2.1. For example, while being in the basement, bomb shelter, or room, you can perform exercises “My strength/resource”, “Together we are strength”, “My healthy lifestyle”, “Fairy Tale of the Winner”, using improvised materials available indoors.
2.2. You can compose poems, fairy tales, naming objects of the room and endowing them with metaphorical content. It is especially important to remember this when children are with us. They need the attention and psychological support of adults.
2.3. It is important, if possible, to do your favorite thing that will distract from negative thoughts.
3. Physical activity in any form (exercise, rearrangement of furniture, systematization of certain objects, etc.) contributes to the “switching” and further adjustment to mental activity.
4. Remember that each of us can somehow help our country during hostilities. This is important for the overall VICTORY and inner balance of the individual!
We remind you that the Psychological Service as well as the Department of Psychology and Pedagogy are always in touch 24/7.
