Even in the conditions of waging a full-scale war on the territory of Ukraine, the fruitful cooperation of the National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” and the “Poltava Society of Germans ‘Wiedergeburt’” (coordinator – Doctor of Philological Sciences, Professor of the Department of Germanic Philology and Translation Tetiana Kushnirova) traditionally continues, and students were able to improve their own speaking skills and communicate with qualified coaches.
In June, students translators of the Poltava Polytechnic became active participants in the summer language platform “Sprachakademie”, which was held on the initiative of the German society, the Information and Education Center “BIZ-Ukraine”, the Council of Germans of Ukraine, with the financial support of the Federal Ministry of Internal Affairs, Construction and Regional Development of Germany through the Charitable Foundation “Development Society”.
During two busy weeks, a student of the group 202-HF Oleksandra Nestoryk and a student of the group 101-HF Anna Shenhur studied the German language in depth and practiced their own skills at language courses from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Classes using the latest educational trends were conducted by a certified Methodist teacher of the public organization “Poltava Society of Germans ‘Wiedergeburt’”, head of the language school “Mein Deutsch Poltava” Olha Balyta.
Due to the difficult situation in the country, this year’s language immersion took place in an online format, but the listeners had a fun and useful time: they got to know the culture of German-speaking countries in the form of online games, various presentations, while simultaneously improving their own language skills.
“For the second year in a row, students translators of the Poltava Polytechnic have the opportunity to participate in the German language intensive, which is extremely useful, since they gradually “immerse” themselves in the language space, replenish their vocabulary and systematize the knowledge gained at the university,” – said the project coordinator, Doctor of Philological Sciences, Professor of the Department of Germanic Philology and Translation at the National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” Tetiana Kushnirova.
The scientist expressed her hope that such cooperation will continue in the new academic year, and our students will be able to deepen their knowledge of the German language in various language projects.
Previously, the members of the student’s scientific club “Philology” held the last meeting of this academic year, dedicated to the use of the Future Learn educational platform to prepare for the IELTS Speaking Test; a Polytechnic scientist underwent training under the program “Active Citizens” from the British Council in Ukraine, became a certified coach of the course “Psychological training and actions of the civilian population in war conditions”; a student translator took part in the Erasmus+ project dedicated to cultural diversity; six students of the Poltava Polytechnic University were awarded scholarships named after Yuri Kondratyuk; and 84 students of the Polytechnic University became winners of the All-Ukrainian competition of student scientific works.
