From December 30, 2021, electronic student IDs have an equivalent value on a par with the state-standard plastic original ones. This was stated in the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.
“I am delighted to announce that the piloting of the project is over. From now on, electronic student IDs will be used on a regular basis, via “Diia” mobile app. This indicates another major step towards a paperless regime, which is important for the implementation of the Law “On the peculiarities of the provision of public (electronic public) services”, adopted this year. 751,000 student e-IDs have already been successfully formed, which are becoming an integral tool of modern conditions,” – commented the Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Serhii Shkarlet.
Electronic student ID, which is already present in the “Diia” app, can be used in higher education institutions as well as to confirm personal data when traveling by train.
“Digital documents are much safer than paper ones. After all, you do not pass on your documents to third parties, but only show them via QR-code,” – told Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov.
It is worth noting that e-versions of student IDs, driver’s licenses and technical passports will become valid. Since 2019, these documents have been successfully used in pilot projects, as a result of which the Government of Ukraine has adopted a number of relevant resolutions.
To generate a student e-ID, one needs to download the “Diia” app or update it to the latest version. The document will then be displayed automatically.
Attention! Digital student IDs can appear in the app only on the basis of plastic originals of the state standard, since “Diia” does not independently generate unique IDs of private universities or student “books”. In addition, if the document expires, for example, in 2020, the mobile app will also not be able to display it.
QR-code of the student e-ID is a unique temporary 3-minute identifier that allows one to compare the document with information in the register and check its validity. The electronic ID confirms the identity and status of the student, gives the right to preferential travel in transport, to receive discounts when visiting museums and other government agencies under current law.
Previously, Poltava Polytechnic joined the “Diia.QR” program, and student volunteers became a support team of “Diia” and provided advice to citizens on the generation of Covid-certificates in vaccination centers.
