Student translators train their professional skills at a unique university simultaneous interpretation laboratory

Within the training course “Fundamentals of Training Guide-Interpreters”, students of Faculty of Philology, Psychology and Pedagogy of Poltava Polytechnic have a unique opportunity to improve and practise their practical skills in professional translation on the basis of innovative language centres and the only simultaneous interpreting laboratory of Poltava Polytechnic in Poltava region.

Future translators, under the guidance of experienced teachers of Faculty of Philology, Psychology and Pedagogy of the National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic”, are actively improving and training their practical skills in the field of professional translation on the basis of specialised computer and innovative laboratories as well as language centres of the university.

In particular, as part of the course “Fundamentals of Training Guide-Interpreters”, students of the university use the unique possibilities of the only simultaneous interpretation laboratory of Poltava Polytechnic in Poltava region to get involved in practical translation activities, polishing their language skills and improving their acquired abilities.

According to the scientific and pedagogical workers of Faculty of Philology, Psychology and Pedagogy of Poltava Polytechnic, the innovative high-tech base of the multidisciplinary classical university makes it possible to develop a successful personality of a future professional translator in many ways. The availability of specialised laboratories and language centres creates opportunities for students to get effective cases of practical skills for their successful professional development.

It should be recalled that future interpreters practised consecutive interpretation during a tour of the Poltava Art Museum’s locations, and lyceum students attended a master class in simultaneous interpretation.

A philology scientist recently improved her skills in preparing slide presentations after receiving training from the Peace Corps in Ukraine, and the academics discussed the key competencies of future Doctors of Philosophy in the field of professional education.

Earlier, future translators studied the main trends in the development of world literature through the prism of mediaeval historical monuments created with a 3D pen, discussed how to start their career in the most relevant professional field, translation students took part in an intensive summer language course, and scientists with professional translators discussed practical cases of online foreign language teaching.
