Students of Poltava Polytechnic win the World Thai Boxing Championship

Students of the National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” Oleh Pryimachov and Mykhailo Serdiuk became winners of the World Thai Boxing Championship in Bangkok. Oleh Pryimachov became the World Champion in the weight category of 91 kg, and Mikhail Serdyuk won bronze among juniors in the weight category up to 54 kg.

Students of Poltava Polytechnic win the World Thai Boxing Championship

The World Championships in Thai Boxing Muay Thai – IFMA – took place on December 6-11 in Bangkok, Thailand. Professional athletes from Poltava region – students of Poltava Polytechnic, who represented the sports club “Legion gym” – excellently performed in the national team of Ukraine. Poltava athletes showed outstanding results, a lot of grit and became the best among opponents.

Oleh Pryimachov, a master’s student at the Faculty of Physical Culture and Sports of the National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic”, became the world champion among adults in the 91 kg weight category. The athlete defeated the Pole Łukasz Radosz in a fierce confrontation, and overpowered the Iranian Hamid Reza Kordabadi in the semifinals. In the final of the Championship Oleh competed with the Russian athlete Vadim Dmitriev, who lost to the Ukrainian. Thus, Oleh Pryimachov brought the first gold medal to the treasury of the national team and became the second world champion in Thai boxing Muay Thai.

Mykhailo Serdiuk, a student of the Educational and Research Institute of Architecture, Construction and Land Management of the National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic”, competed among juniors in the weight category up to 54 kg. In the first match, the athlete defeated the representative of Israel Guy Yahav, and in the semifinals lost to the “host” of the competition – the Thai Pongsator Chainurak, thus, winning a bronze medal at the World Championships.

Zurab Abdulaiev trains athletes. His disciples have repeatedly become winners and prize-winners of competitions of various levels.

In the overall standings, the national team of Ukraine won three gold medals and is now in fourth place in the standings.

Previously, Mykhailo Serdiuk took first place at the WAKO Kickboxing World Cup, and Oleh Pryimachov received a scholarship from the head of the Poltava Regional State Administration.
