On November 9, an educational meeting for students of the Faculty of Physical Culture and Sports was held at the Centre for Veteran Development. Among the students, there are many whose parents are military personnel and are now defending the borders of Ukraine from the enemy, and there are also students who lost their parents in the war.
Dean of the Faculty of Physical Culture and Sports, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor Lina Rybalko introduced the students to the mission of the Centre for Veteran Development, opened on October 4, 2023 at the National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic”, its activities and introduced the head of the centre – Yurii Sheremet, a war veteran, a participant in hostilities.
“At the Centre for Veteran Development, demobilized military personnel and their relatives will have the opportunity to undergo professional training and retraining, receive the necessary psychological, social, legal assistance and rehabilitation services with the aim of reintegrating military personnel into civilian life. Future assistants of veterans will also be trained here,” – stressed Lina Rybalko.
Veterans and their family members will be able to undergo professional training in the following areas:
- IT technologies;
- Oil and gas engineering;
- Construction and civil engineering;
- Philology;
- Therapy and rehabilitation;
- Jurisprudence;
- Legal and financial literacy;
- Military training.
“The centre will be a place where ex-servicemen will come to exchange experiences, find like-minded people, discuss their worries, get one or another new specialty and continue to successfully progress in their own development in civilian life. Adaptation and return to the usual life of our Defenders is an important task, and we must take care of it now,” – said the head of the Centre Yurii Sheremet.
The meeting was attended by a Master’s student of the Faculty of Physical Culture and Sports, specialty 017 “Physical Culture and Sports”, and now the defender, serviceman of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Volodymyr Chyberko.
“I worked in Kyiv, had my own plans and affairs, but the war changed my view. Engage in self-development, study, do sports, because we who are at war, we are now, but we are not eternal. I was in the Kharkiv direction. Thanks to the guys who are there now and those who are gone, you thankfully don't see these horrors. Cherish every moment, support each other, cherish every minute of your life!” – shared his experience defender Volodymyr Chyberko.
Such educational events are planned for students of all educational and research institutes and faculties of the university.
Recently, the Centre for Veteran Development of the Poltava Polytechnic took part in the meeting of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities under the President of Ukraine, on the basis of the Centre they discussed the peculiarities of communication with participants in hostilities and those injured by the war, and a creative meeting was held with Pavlo Kazarin.
