On 4-8 August 2024, the European Bench Press and Classic Bench Press Championships among all age categories took place in the Turkish city of Istanbul. The sporting showdown with experienced rivals was attended by 300 athletes from 26 countries. Ukraine was represented by athletes in 32 weight categories: 35 powerlifters in the classic bench press and 38 in the bench press.
Master of Sports of Ukraine of International Class, Powerlifting Coach, Senior Teacher of the Department of Physical Therapy and Ergotherapy of National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” Oksana Hordiienko won a silver medal at the European Bench Press Championships, becoming the best among the women in the Masters 1 age category.
The athletes of Powerlifting Section of National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” also became gold and silver medallists of the European Bench Press Championship:
- Ivan Kryha, student of group 301-BP of Educational and Research Institute of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Land Management – I place in the individual competition among men;
- Zakhar Miroshnychenko, entrant of speciality 017 Physical Culture and Sports of the Faculty of Physical Culture and Sports – II place among young men;
- Olha Pavlii, student of group 301-pFR of the Faculty of Physical Culture and Sports – II place among juniors.
During the competition, athlete of Poltava Polytechnic Ivan Kryha fulfilled the standard of Master of Sports of Ukraine of International Class for the first time, demonstrating excellent physical form and the results of hard training.

It should be recalled that earlier Polytechnic athletes won gold and bronze medals at the Ukrainian Bench Press and Classic Bench Press Championships, and a Polytechnic teacher entered the TOP-10 best judges according to the rating of the Powerlifting Federation of Ukraine.
Recently, Polytechnic master student Liudmyla Luzan reached the semi finals of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
