In order to popularize contemporary art among young people, Poltava residents and guests of the Polytechnic, at the Center for Contemporary Art of the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic" opened the announced exhibition of Honored Artist of Ukraine, member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine Mykola Pidhornyi "Painting". The exposition presents the most significant works of the Poltava artist "Banal Triangle", "The One", "Wounded Centaur", "David", several famous self-portraits made in a variety of art techniques.

"Our today’s meeting is especially exciting, literally fills us with pride that we have a unique opportunity to get acquainted with a man whose paintings and philosophical views on life as well as everyday things are just amazing, an artist whose name is known far beyond the town – Honored Artist of Ukraine, member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine Mykola Pidhornyi. We sincerely rejoice that in the Center for Contemporary Art, established in 2016 with the personal support and comprehensive assistance of the Rector of the University, Professor Volodymyr Onyshchenko, we can take in the arts, immerse ourselves in the world of contemporary art and talk to masters of the brush.

Mykola Pidhornyi's exhibition is an incredibly important event in the life of our university, and students along with lecturers of the Department of Fine Arts are happy to be able to study at real masters," – commented a member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine, International Association of Critics and Art Critics in Paris AICA, Candidate of Art History, Head of the Department of Fine Arts of the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic" Tetiana Zinenko.

The opening ceremony was attended by the Rector of National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic", Professor Volodymyr Onyshchenko, Director of Poltava Art Museum (Art Gallery) named after Mykola Yaroshenko Olha Kurchakova, directors of educational and research institutes, deans of faculties, foreign scientists, scientific and pedagogical staff and university employees.

"It is a great pleasure to open an exhibition of genius in his field. The exhibition of masterpieces with incredible energy!

Our university is a multidisciplinary classical university, which perfectly combines seemingly incompatible things – art and oil&gas engineering, law and construction, IT and physical education, economics and architecture, etc. And meetings, warm willing communication with famous Poltava artists have become another good tradition of Poltava Polytechnic. In my opinion, art itself is forming a new generation of young people who will create a bright future of Ukraine with their own bare hands.

I am happy that such an incredible event is taking place at our university,  and I sincerely thank Mykola Vasylovych Pidhornyi for supporting our initiative, openness to gifted student youth and lecturers. I am sure that this exhibition is a good start to fruitful artistic and educational cooperation with the university.

Further joint plans are to hold a series of meetings of Mykola Pidhornyi with students and lecturers of the Department of Fine Arts of the University. I am proud of my friendship with an outstanding artist!" – congratulated the Rector of the university Volodymyr Onyshchenko.

According to an art critic and Director of Poltava Art Museum (Art Gallery) named after Mykola Yaroshenko Olha Kurchakova, close connection with art has always prevailed within the walls of the university.

"Poltava Art Museum (Art Gallery) named after Mykola Yaroshenko and Poltava Polytechnic have been close friends for decades. It is difficult to list a huge number of diploma works of graduates stored in the museum's funds and expositions, held art events, public lectures and meetings with students and lecturers of the university. Therefore, those talks that took place in Poltava about the creation of an art school have an undoubted right to exist, thanks to the efforts of the university, youth will reach a new, artistic level.

Our museum is extremely lucky, since it has repeatedly become an exposition for exhibitions of works by Mykola Pidhornyi, whose work inspires more than one generation of artists. In my opinion, the most outstanding page in his art biography is the portraits of famous Poltava residents, an interesting selection of which is stored in the collection of the Poltava Art Museum (Art Gallery) named after Mykola Yaroshenko. With his brush, Mykola Vasylovych introduced into eternity those whom he portrayed, who inspired him to new artistic achievements. Craftsmanship is multiplied by talent, experience and incredible charisma – a simple "recipe" for Mykola Pidhornyi’s success. I sincerely congratulate our esteemed artist and Poltava Polytechnic on a historical event, I wish everyone inspiration, creative success and positive emotions after observing the exhibition!" – commented Olha Kurchakova.

"I sincerely thank you for the opportunity to exhibit my own work within the walls of a respected university with a rich history and strong educational traditions. It is important for me to convey art to people, to share my own emotions, to show the inner world of the artist," – said Honored Artist of Ukraine, member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine Mykola Pidhornyi

"Further joint plans are to hold a series of meetings of the outstanding artist Mykola Pidhornyi with students, lecturers of the Department of Fine Arts of the University, where the most common techniques and applied manners of writing will be discussed. Based on my own experience, I know for sure that the created art space and friendly format of communication will not leave anyone indifferent", – says a member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine and International Association of Critics and Art Critics in Paris AICA, Candidate of Art History, Head of the Department of Fine Arts of the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic" Tetiana Zinenko.

The guests viewed the exhibition and talked to the artist, who shared stories of finding himself and told about the creation of his most significant works. The quartet of musicians of the Poltava Academic Symphony Orchestra created an incredible festive atmosphere and wonderful mood with the sound of the most famous musical masterpieces.

The Center for Contemporary Art of Poltava Polytechnic has repeatedly successfully implemented large-scale art projects – the works of lecturers and graduates of the Department of Fine Arts were exhibited, the debut of students-artists took place, Poltava residents had a unique opportunity to visit the exhibition of children's works in one of the most complex art techniques, art workshops for schoolchildren of the Poltava Art Lyceum named after Sofia Rusova were held there.

The exhibition "Painting" will last at the Center for Contemporary Art of the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic" for a month. Everyone can visit it and enjoy the world of art.
