The first stage of the contest-defense of the Junior Academy of Sciences of Ukraine takes place in Poltava

On December 3, a solemn opening ceremony of the I (city) stage of the All-Ukrainian contest-defense of research papers of students-members of the Poltava branch of the Junior Academy of Sciences of Ukraine in the 2021-2022 academic year was held at the Center for Culture and Student Creativity of the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic". Due to quarantine restrictions caused by the global pandemic COVID-19, the large-scale scientific event took place in a mixed format, and the organizers took care of compliance with all the necessary requirements.

The first stage started all over Ukraine, but the intellectual elite of Poltava was especially honored – the president of the National Center "Junior Academy of Sciences of Ukraine", academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Stanislav Dovhyi, and the head of the Poltava city territorial community Oleksandr Mamai, personally congratulated the young academicians. The opening ceremony was also attended by members of the jury – teachers of all higher education institutions of Poltava, mentors of contestants, teachers of general secondary education institutions of the city.

"Dear friends! With great pleasure I congratulate you on a significant event in the scientific life of your city! I am proud of the achievements of the Poltava territorial branch of the Junior Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, the significant achievements of its participants. I express my sincere gratitude to the head of the Poltava city territorial community Oleksandr Mamai for creating a powerful innovative space for the dynamic development of children's scientific and technical creativity in the Poltava region, and to the President of the Poltava territorial branch of the Junior Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, rector of the Poltava Polytechnic, Professor Volodymyr Onyshchenko for his comprehensive assistance and support of various innovations in the development of student and youth science.

The Junior Academy of Sciences of Ukraine has been working for more than 20 years in the field of search for and development of talented youth, finding internal and external resources to create an innovative educational space necessary for the harmonious development of a young scientist's personality. We are currently working on a strategy for the creation of a UNESCO department for working with gifted youth at universities, the sector that educators and our children need so much. It is worth noting the fact that many Poltava schoolchildren have already visited the first interactive State Museum of Science in Ukraine, the locations of which amaze with scientific novelty, relevance and high-tech. We sincerely invite you to participate in fruitful scientific communication, attend excursion programs, listen to lectures and communicate with our scientists, be inspired to choose a new scientific topic and, perhaps, make a revolution in science!

It is pleasant to note another tradition of the Junior Academy of Sciences of Ukraine – holding of science festivals, in which leading Ukrainian universities actively participate, in particular Poltava Polytechnic, headed by Volodymyr Oleksandrovych Onyshchenko. Such scientific festivals aim to positively motivate schoolchildren and student youth, for this we have real grounds and developed practical cases. For example, we are building an international center for children's scientific creativity on the territory of Pushcha-Vodytsia near the capital – a unique location for 600 people, which will host international intellectual competitions for the member states of the European Union. Poltava will soon have its own Science Museum – a joint initiative of the Junior Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, the Poltava city community, the Poltava territorial branch of the Junior Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and Poltava Polytechnic. The first significant steps have already been taken – a layout of locations has been created, premises have been found and certain funds have been allocated for the successful implementation of this grandiose project.

Every year, our international activity grows, and the level of participation of Poltava schoolchildren, who are ready to popularize science and proudly bear the title of scientist, increases respectively. According to Europeans, Ukraine remains one of the most intelligent and scientifically developed countries in the world, and the positive image of science is growing among modern youth. The Poltava territorial branch of the Academy of Sciences of Ukraine also has a huge merit in this.

I wish you inspiration, life optimism, new scientific accomplishments and achievements! Believe in your own strength, because we are proud of the cooperation with you, your successes and victories!" – wished the president of the National Center "Junior Academy of Sciences of Ukraine", Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Stanislav Dovhyi.

It should be recalled that the previous contest-defense of research papers of students-members of the Junior Academy of Sciences of Ukraine was held in an online format.

The head of the Poltava city community Oleksandr Mamai noted the merits of a whole cohort of teachers-mentors in popularizing youth science: "Teaching to independently master knowledge is top class for every teacher who invests a piece of their own knowledge, soul and mind in the light of our children's heads. Great praise and respect to all institutions of general secondary education that have made efforts to make this celebration of science and youth happen! Congratulations to those who conscientiously worked on their own potential and enriched themselves intellectually! I wish you creative inspiration, the desire to develop, work on yourself, improve your abilities, discover new scientific perspectives for yourself, change the intellectual face of our Poltava!".

The president of the Poltava territorial branch of the Junior Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Rector of the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic", Honored Worker of Education of Ukraine, Professor Volodymyr Onyshchenko, addressed Poltava schoolchildren and their mentors with a welcoming speech, emphasizing the growing role of educational trends and the modernization of approaches and already existing curricula.
