The International Criminal Court to investigate war crimes in Ukraine

Recent events, including the unprovoked escalation of Russia's aggression against Ukraine, suggest that crimes under the jurisdiction of the International Criminal Court continue to be committed in Ukraine, the ministry said (link to the last three words: https://www.facebook.com/100064814226458/posts/328622639308208/?d=n)

Given the situation in Crimea and Donbas, there is good reason to believe that the aggressor state’s troops continue to commit war crimes and crimes against humanity against the peaceful civilian population of Ukraine.

Despite the fact that our state is not a party to the Rome Statute, our state has recognized Rome Statute ad hoc jurisdiction on the basis of statements submitted earlier. In particular, Ukraine filed two applications with the International Criminal Court, the first concerning events that took place in the country between November 21, 2013 and February 22, 2014, and the second concerning the continuation of crimes committed starting from February 20, 2014. The analysis of these two statements gave the Prosecutor's Office all the grounds to allege the commission of war crimes and crimes against humanity.

Russia’s top military and political leaders are bound to appear before the International Criminal Court and be held accountable for every crime committed. This will be the Nuremberg Trials of the 21st century.

It should be recalled that martial law has been imposed in Ukraine, and Poltava Polytechnic has prepared a shelter and is helping territorial defense forces.
