Student wins two medals at the Ukrainian Swimming Championship among athletes with musculoskeletal disorders

Yaroslav Karpenko, a second-year student of Poltava Polytechnic, became the champion of Ukraine in swimming among athletes with musculoskeletal disorders.

Student wins two medals at the Ukrainian Swimming Championship among athletes with musculoskeletal disorders

From 13 to 15 December 2021 in the city of Kamianske, Dnipropetrovsk region, the Ukrainian Swimming Championship among athletes with musculoskeletal disorders, visual impairments as well as mental and physical development was held. 168 athletes from 23 regions of Ukraine took part in the championship. Eleven athletes from the Poltava Region team partook, including students of the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic" – Yaroslav Karpenko and Oleksii Virchenko, who won a silver medal at the Summer Paralympic Games in Tokyo.

Yaroslav Karpenko, a student of the 201-FR group, won:

  • 2nd place – type of program: 100m on the back;
  • 3rd place – type of program: 50m on the back.

In total, Poltava athletes won 28 awards, including 13 gold medals, 9 silver medals, 6 bronze medals.

Earlier, Paralympic graduates of Poltava Polytechnic were awarded by the President of Ukraine, and a student of Poltava College of Oil and Gas of Poltava Polytechnic won the 40th medal for Ukraine at the Paralympic Games.
