The University of Indonesia has published the annual UI GreenMetric-2022 ranking of the world's universities, which presents higher education institutions from around the world that implement "green" solutions and innovations. In 2022, the ranking included 1,050 universities from 85 countries.
National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic" has been included in the UI GreenMetric international ranking since 2017 and occupies high positions in the ranking among Ukrainian higher education institutions. Poltava Polytechnic once again became the only Poltava university in the ranking and took 10th place among 17 institutions of higher education in Ukraine.
The UI GreenMetric World University Rankings is a global ranking, the results of which reflect the efforts of universities to address environmental impact issues. The rankings were determined by the environmental friendliness of the campuses using 39 indicators in 6 criteria of the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings, which include: the implementation of environmental education components in the educational process, energy efficiency improvement projects, university policies on rational consumption and energy savings, rational use of water resources, storage and processing of waste, assessment of the area of green spaces on the territory, etc.
The main goal of the ranking is not only to maintain the environmental sustainability of universities around the world, but also to draw the attention of university leaders and stakeholders to global climate change and, thus, promote the balanced use of energy, water, waste recycling and the development of environmentally friendly transportation. Such activities require a change in strategies and attention to environmental sustainability, as well as economic and social issues.
The ranking is aimed at promoting academic discourse on sustainability in education and campus greening, university-related social change, taking into account the goals of sustainable development, self-assessment of campus sustainability for universities around the world, informing the government, international and local environmental agencies and society about the programs of sustainable development on campus.
It should be recalled that the II International Scientific and Practical Conference "Ecology. Environment. Energy Saving" was held at the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic", where scientists presented modern technologies for overcoming environmental problems.
Previously, scientists published a monograph on global and regional environmental risks in emergency situations.
