The UN General Assembly demands the Russian Federation immediately cease the use of force against Ukraine and refrain from any further threat or use of force against any UN member state, as well as immediately, completely and unconditionally withdraw all its military forces from the territory of Ukraine within its internationally recognized borders. This was reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
The resolution reaffirms its commitment to Ukraine's sovereignty, independence, unity and territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders and territorial waters.
The document condemns violation of international humanitarian law, demands to ensure unimpeded access to humanitarian aid for those in need in Ukraine. Separately, Belarus' involvement in the illegal use of force against Ukraine is condemned and there is a call on it to abide by its international obligations.
The document also calls for an immediate peaceful solution to the armed conflict between the Russian Federation and Ukraine through political dialogue, negotiations, mediation and other peaceful means.
The document was the result of the UN General Assembly working in emergency mode, which actually took over the functions of the UN Security Council, primarily due to Russia's violation of the UN Charter, its fundamental norms and principles.
The resolution has become an important part of the international toolkit for calling Russia to account on an international level for its crimes against the Ukrainian people. Ukraine is grateful to the international community for supporting the UN General Assembly resolution with an unprecedented high number of votes.
