Taking into account the outbreak of COVID-19, Coursera has made the whole catalogue of courses free for every university which switched its educational process to online mode or stopped it, to help teachers find ways to minimize pauses in studying.
“We are fortunate to have university and industry partners, who have been at the forefront of responding to the challenges humanity has faced from time to time. Inspired by their support and consistent with our mission of serving learners everywhere, we are launching a global effort to assist universities and colleges seeking to offer online courseware in response to the coronavirus,” says an official announcement on their website.
Coursera is a technological company which works in educational field, it was founded by information technology professors from Stanford University in 2012.
Our university has used the opportunity provided by Coursera due to the Coronavirus pandemic, that is the access to more than 3800 course in 400 specialties from leading universities of the world and from industry partners. Educational institutions will have the access until July 31, 2020, and students can use it till September 30, 2020 to finish their courses. Besides, Coursera creates monthly plans for expanding if needed. It allows students from different majors to continue quality education from any part of the world, as Coursera cooperates with universities from various countries around the world to teach courses of these institutions online.
Free courses on Coursera offer a vide range of topics, from business and technologies to health and physics. All these resources are available thanks to one central education program which forms a virtual community of teachers and students when it is just not possible to gather in real life.
Courses have video lessons by famous professors in several languages, with additional practical projects, interactive competitions and reviewed tasks.
