When female war veterans came to the Veteran Development Centre of Poltava Polytechnic and asked for rehabilitation, physical therapist, Candidate of Medical Sciences Viktoriia Horoshko developed individual rehabilitation programmes for the veterans, taking into account their rehabilitation needs and physiological characteristics. The rehabilitation programme provides for the examination and treatment of injuries, including diagnosis, treatment and monitoring of physical health to detect complications in a timely manner.

At the Department of Physical Therapy and Ergotherapy of Poltava Polytechnic, war veterans undergo physical therapy procedures and rehabilitation exercises that play an important role in restoring their physical abilities, using electrotherapy, ultrasound therapy, massage and individual exercise programmes to strengthen muscles and stabilise joints.

Alongside physical rehabilitation, psychological support was provided, including individual and group counselling, psychotherapy, cognitive behavioural therapy and art therapy.

Recently, the Veteran Development Centre’s specialists have joined the work on a reintegration strategy for Ukrainian female and male veterans.
