National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” traditionally became the ground for a constructive dialog between the representatives of science, education, business and government. The exchange of experience and the results of effective work on the projects for increasing the oil and gas production efficiency at the fields in Ukraine, presentations of new technology and equipment was broadcast:
Despite the lockdown caused by the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic, the scale of the event grew even larger, and the number of participants had increased since the last forum. Approximately 200 participants joined the forum events, including the representatives of 30 oil and gas companies and establishments, local government bodies, public organizations, specialized associations, scientists, teachers and students. The organizers, Poltava Engineering Center, took care of all the necessary anti-pandemic measures and the participants’ safety, providing personal protection means and hand sanitizers to everyone.
The following honorary guests visited the opening ceremony of the forum: Head of State Geology and Subsoil Service of Ukraine Roman Opimakh, Deputy Head of Poltava Oblast State Administration Yevhen Hrekov, Mayor of Poltava Oleksandr Mamai, Head of State Employment Department in Poltava Oblast Serhii Shcherbak, Director General of LLC “Burova Tekhnika STE”, Head of Supervisory Board of National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” Vitalii Vitryk, heads and representatives of the top-management of the oil and gas companies who take leading positions at the Ukrainian oil and gas market.
“We can say without exaggeration that our university continues to be the ground for the conversation between the representatives of education, science, business and government, professionals of the oil and gas field, providing possibility for fruitful discussions. We are happy to state that Poltava Polytechnic manages to successfully realize the formula “education+science+business+government”. I would also like to emphasize that this is the seventh forum held at National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic". The graduate students of Education and Research Institute of Oil and Gas have the chance to enhance their skills and knowledge by listening to the presentations of the leading oil and gas specialists. On behalf of the academic and student body of National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic", Rector thanked the partners for effective contribution to the development of university facilities, for comprehensive support and popularization of science, formation of a positive image of National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” at the state level, and awarded commendations to Director General of DTEK Oil and Gas Ihor Shchurov, Director of Geosynthesis Engineering LLC Ivan Polituchyi, Director General of Weatherford Ukraine Oleksandr Tertychenko, Director of Ukrnaftahazservis LLC Ihor Vitryk, Director General of LLC “Burova Tekhnika STE”, Head of Supervisory Board of National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” Vitalii Vitryk, and Director of Poltavahazvydobuvannia GPD Andrii Misiniov.
It is important to note that the facilities of National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” were complemented with two innovative laboratories opened in cooperation with the representatives of leading oil and gas companies of our region during the forum, the IDL multimedia language lab and the CyberRoboLab Educational Center. The possibility of creating such scientific projects was announce at the official events dedicated to the 90th anniversary of National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic".
The participants of the VII International Industry Forum “Increasing the Efficiency of Hydrocarbons Production at the Oil and Gas Fields of Ukraine” were also greeted by Head of Poltava City Territorial Community (Mayor) Oleksandr Mamai and Deputy Head of Poltava Oblast State Administration Yevhen Hrekov.
Mayor of Poltava Oleksandr Mamai highly praised the organization level of one of the main oil-and-gas-related event of the year and shared his own views on the financial and economical development of Poltava region.
“On behalf of the whole collective of the Executive Committee of Poltava City Council and me personally, I would like to thank the teachers and scientists of the university. I know how hard it is to teach our children in such circumstances, forming such a powerful educational and scientific potential of the region. The state puts high hopes on you, while it understands that the future of our city, our region and Ukraine is in the hands of the growing generation, and education takes the main role in their development. I wish you positivity in life and never-ending energy, and the students to have success in education, because everything is in your hands!” the Mayor said.
“Poltavshchyna can be called the territory of success, since the powerful natural resources, scientific and industrial potential and young specialists who wish to develop their region and state in general create all the necessary conditions for it. “I wish that all the participants of the forum have fruitful discussions, and the young generation reach their personal goals that will allow to become real experts of their field in the future and get the highest achievements in their chosen occupation,” Deputy Head of Poltava Oblast State Administration Yevhen Hrekov said.
According to Director General of LLC “Burova Tekhnika STE”, Head of Supervisory Board of National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” Vitalii Vitryk, Poltava Polytechnic does not forget its own traditions, becoming yet again an effective space for building a discussion among education, science, business and government: “The development of the oil and gas industry requires meetings like this one, where we can discuss the problems and difficulties of the field, directions of priority for further cooperation, and borrow some practical experience from the best European companies. Head of the State Geology and Subsoil Service of Ukraine Roman Opimakh shared his impressions of the forum and mentioned the high organization level and friendly professional atmosphere.
“I am glad to visit the city that traditionally meets us with good atmosphere and warm weather again. I am impressed by the dynamic development of Poltava Polytechnic, which is a great example of the synergetic effect of the dialog between education and science, business and government; new modern laboratories are opened here, comfortable conditions for studying, scientific activity and internships at the best oil and gas companies are created. I am once again reassured of the words of one of the organizers at this stage; healthy competition drives development and movement forwards. So, greetings to the participants of the forum, I wish that you have a productive day and fruitful discussions!” Head of the State Geology and Subsoil Service of Ukraine greeted the participants.
The forum consisted of three sessions dedicated to the issues of production, resource facilities for building up and stimulating the hydrocarbon production. The discussion was moderated by Director General of Poltava Engineering Center, Director of Poltava Oil and Gas College Liubov Shumska.
The innovations of this forum included that for the first time scientists of National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” Branimir Cvetkovic and Petro Holub presented the results of their work along with the experienced production specialists. The speakers delivered interesting presentations, in which they covered in detail the ways of improving the oil and gas exploration and production technologies and their coverage in the educational process, as well as prospective directions of scientific and productive cooperation of the Scientific and Production Center of Poltava Polytechnic.
The participants of the event talked about facilities buildup as a strategic priority of the leading Ukrainian oil and gas companies, construction of multilateral and multibranch wells as a was of enhancing the efficiency of oil and gas field development, innovative methods of seismic survey, discussed the results of industrial geophysical research for providing reasons for the feasibility of constructing wells at the fields of late development stage, evaluated the economic and energetic risks that the gas production field will face in 2021.
Head of State Geology and Subsoil Service of Ukraine Roman Opimakh talked about the plans of the State Geology and Subsoil Service on reorganizing their activity.
“Last year was extremely hard for the oil and gas industry, as the prices fell to a record-braking low level, business activity decreased, a great number of people just lost their jobs. Now the activity has been gradually returning to normal, because the companies should get used to the normal process of such swinging. State Geology and Subsoil Service of Ukraine has prepared a list of objects that deserve trust and need certain investments.
“The new product that we offer today is the strategic mineral resources, a product line of the Premium class used in the green energy and the production of batteries for electric cars, not requiring large spendings and knowledge sources. Most of them, however, is connected with a great risk, since there is no projects guaranteeing success,” Roman Opimakh commented.
Deputy Director of Association of Oil and Gas of Ukraine Yurii Nahorniak analyzed the current oil and gas market of Ukraine and the risks that the industry can experience during the pandemic in his report.
Chief Technologist of LLC “Burova Tekhnika STE” Andrii Kucher spoke about constructing multilateral and multibranch wells as a way of enhancing the efficiency of oil and gas fields.
Rector of National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic”, Professor Volodymyr Onyshchenko presented useful practical cases of realizing the joined investment projects of Poltava Polytechnic and business and spoke about the long-term cooperation of Polytechnic with the leading oil and gas companies of our country, the expansion of possibilities for internships for students and teachers, employment for the graduates of the oil and gas specializations. During the presentation of achievements and innovative activities of our university, Rector thanked the business partners and friends for the comprehensive support and the scientific and business initiatives.
According to Director General of Poltava Engineering Center, Director of Poltava Oil and Gas College Liubov Shumska, the industry forum has to be held during the lockdown for the second time. However, despite the anti-pandemic measures, Poltava Engineering Center, Poltava Polytechnic and the partners of the forum - DTEK Oil and Gas, Wellsite Digital, Weatherford Ukraine, Geo-Alliance Group, FID Group and NOV-Fidmash - successfully managed to hold the event.
The large-scale event was held following all the recommendation of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, Ministry of Health of Ukraine on prevention and spreading of the Coronavirus infection and keeping the necessary distance. During the VI International Industry Forum “Production. Well Stimulation. Well Workover” held last spring, the leaders of the oil and gas industry discussed the future of the field and the world after the pandemic.
National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” has yet again proved its high status of an innovative Ukrainian university, the leader of oil and gas education in Poltava region, that has created a space for productive communication for the representatives of education, science and the industry, which trains highly qualified oil and gas specialists who will ensure the independence of Ukrainian energy field and the innovative development of the economy of our country.
