According to the Ranking Web of Universities (Webometrics) published by the National Research Council of Spain for January 2023, the leading position among higher education institutions of the Poltava region is retained by the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic" for the third year in a row.
In general, the prestigious international academic rating assessed the presence in the web space of about 31,000 higher education institutions in the world.
Poltava Polytechnic took 52nd place among the TOP-100 Ukrainian institutions of higher education. In total, 306 Ukrainian universities are represented in the ranking from Ukraine.

The top three leaders from Ukraine included the National Technical University of Ukraine "Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute", Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv and Sumy State University.
When forming the rating, the researchers took into account several indicators:
- the number of external links to the university website;
- information on the number of publications in the Scopus database;
- data on citations of public access publications from Google Scholar.
Webometrics is the analysis of all types of media information using scientific, bibliometric and informational approaches. Distinctive features of the Webometrics ranking are the constancy of the methodology and the high dynamics of changes in the ranking indicators. The editorial board of the ranking is updated twice a year – in January and July.
Previously, the university twice took first place among Poltava universities in the Webometrics ranking in 2022, the Polytechnic was recognized as the best Poltava multidisciplinary university and entered the TOP-50 leading universities in the U-Multirank-2022 world ranking.
