From December 2 to 11 there were competitions among the participants of the eSports Tournament in the discipline CS:GO “WinterCyberCup 21” among students and pupils of higher education, professional education and general secondary education institutions of Poltava. 80 e-sportsmen took part in it, representing 16 teams.
Poltava e-sportsmen were greeted by the head of the separate divisions “Student Sports Union of Ukraine” and “Ukrainian Federation of Student Sports” in Poltava region, rector of the National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic”, Doctor of Economics, Professor Volodymyr Onyshchenko:
“It is extremely gratifying that a large number of e-sportsmen took part in the tournament, and from Poltava Polytechnic it was two teams. Perhaps, it is no coincidence that we have a certain result, as a few years ago an e-sports laboratory was established. I would like to note the high level of our students. It is very pleasant that today representatives of vocational schools were awarded here, who were able to overcome and defeat students of higher educational institutions. The main thing is that sport wins in any case, and it is very good that you popularize such a modern, dynamic sport. We will continue to support and help you to always be winners not only in virtual but also in real life. Therefore, I wish you further professional sports achievements and success in your studies!”
The jury determined the winners of the tournament, who received awards. The ceremony of awarding e-sportsmen was conducted by the head of the Public Organization Poltava e-sports organization “Poltava e-sport association” Yevhenii Shcherbakov:
- I place: team “National Polytechnik”, National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic”;
- II place: team “Kot1ki”, Poltava Higher Vocational School named after A. O. Chepiga;
- Semifinalists of the tournament: the team “Brothers in Arms”, Poltava Secondary School №30; team “Not Today” National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic”;
- The best player of the tournament is Oleksandr Sydorenko.
The judge of the tournament Danylo “Flux” Shcherbakov also joined the congratulations of the e-sportsmen and awarded the player with the title “Revelation of the tournament” – an e-sportsman under the nickname “Absurdic”.
“The key factor in our victory was our joint trainings, which lasted for several years. Our main goal for this tournament is to show the best result. And our result in the form of the first place is a reward for our durable trainings,” – commented the player of the winning team “National Polytechnik” Denys Maladyka.
E-sports are gaining momentum around the world and are becoming an important part of the economy. E-sports combine sports activities and advanced computer technology. Ukraine is one of 25 countries that have recognized e-sports as an official sport. Poltava region is also developing in this regard and among higher education institutions e-sports is best developed at the National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic”. Students of Poltava Polytechnic have repeatedly won e-sports tournaments. The team of the National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” has won the “Poltava Cyber Cup” tournament twice and took first place in the “RectorsCyberCup’21” tournament.
