The Poltava Gymnasiade in classical chess has ended. Students from almost 20 Poltava schools, lyceums and gymnasiums have taken part in it. The competition was held in two stages on the basis of the Faculty of Physical Culture and Sports of the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic".
"We are all happy to congratulate you, our wonderful athletes, who, thanks to your desire to win, reached the final of the competition and achieved what you wanted the most. I would like to convey the greetings of the Rector of the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic", Professor Volodymyr Oleksandrovych Onyshchenko, who heads the NGO "Federation of Student Sports" in Poltava region. You did a great job. You are the future!" – congratulated the Dean of the Faculty of Physical Culture and Sports of the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic", Professor of the Department of Physical Culture and Sports Lina Rybalko.
President of the Poltava Regional Chess Federation, Chief Referee of the competition Hryhorii Shcherbov announced the results – 4 teams out of 25 reached the final. The final competitions took place between them.
The finalists were the chess players of the team MI "Poltava city multidisciplinary lyceum No. 1 named after I. P. Kotlyarevsky of Poltava City Council of Poltava region."
The winners of the Poltava Gymnasiade in classical chess were:
- 1st place – the team of Poltava secondary school levels I-III №26 of Poltava town council of Poltava region" (22 points)
- 2nd place – the team of Poltava secondary school levels I-III №38 (19 points)
- 3d place – the team of Poltava secondary school levels I-III №10 named after V.G. Korolenko.
It should be recalled that competitions of the III Gymnasiade of Poltava Region in chess among schoolchildren took place on the basis of the Faculty of Physical Culture and Sports of Poltava Polytechnic.
