The department teaches basic courses in city planning, urbanism, architectural and construction composition of buildings and structures, reconstruction and technical operation of buildings and structures, technical mechanics of liquids and gases, hydraulics, water supply and drainage, building thermal physics, acoustics and light science, and also teaches the basics of energy audit and energy efficiency of buildings for students of the Educational and Research Institute of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Land Management and other institutes of our university.
The Department of Building and civil engineering conducts research in the following scientific fields:
1. Reliability of complex structures. Reconstruction and risks.
2. Research in the field of rational design and operating conditions of buildings and structures under the influence of natural and climatic factors.
3. Reliability of water supply and drainage systems and facilities.
The novelty of developments is protected by patents and copyright certificates for inventions. Approbation of achieved research results is carried out annually at scientific and technical conferences and symposia. Research results are used in the educational process when writing course papers and doing diploma projects, as well as in the commercial scientific work ordered by individuals and legal entities.
The results of scientific research carried out by the staff of the department are demonstrated in research articles in domestic journals and proceedings of international scientific and technical conferences and are used in the development of state regulatory documents.
The department invites future applicants to participate in writing a research paper within the framework of the Junior Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (JASU) in the section “Technical sciences”. Academic staff of the department offers applicants consultations and further training.
The department provides scientific supervision for various levels – starting with high school students and ending with doctoral students.
The staff of the department invites you to enroll into a PhD Program (with a possibility of receiving scholarship) in speciality 192 "Building and civil engineering" according to the areas of scientific work of the department.
The department trains students in the speciality / programme subject area 192 "Building and civil engineering" in the following educational programs:
- “Industrial and civil construction”;
- “Urban construction and economy”;
- “Technologies of building structures, products and materials”.
The training of highly qualified specialists in the construction business is carried out at the following educational levels:
Bachelor is an educational level of a specialist who, on the basis of a complete general secondary education or on the basis of the "junior bachelor's" level, has acquired general technical training, fundamental and professionally oriented knowledge and skills in the field (basic higher education) and who is able to solve typical professional tasks, provided for relevant positions in a certain branch of the national economy.
The term of study is 4 years (3 years on the basis of "junior bachelor's" level).
Employment. First of all, a bachelor is prepared for further obtaining of a full higher education in the field of construction and can hold positions of low-level engineering and technical personnel and work under the supervision of a construction engineer or, if they have some work experience, the graduates can work independently at enterprises and construction organizations of various forms of ownership as a foreman.
Master's degree (qualification: civil engineer) is the educational level of a specialist who, on the basis of a bachelor's or specialist's qualification, has acquired in-depth special skills and knowledge of an innovative nature, has some experience in their application in solving problematic professional tasks in a certain branch of the national economy. The specified educational program for master's training program includes in-depth fundamental, humanitarian, socio-economic, psychological and pedagogical, special and scientific and practical training.
The term of study is 1.5 (2) years after obtaining the bachelor's degree.
Employment: master’s degree students obtain a training focused mainly on research and teaching work, but can also perform all the functions of a construction customer, designer and construction worker in organizations of various forms of ownership.
Doctor of philosophy is the educational and scientific level of a specialist who, on the basis of a master's qualification, has acquired in-depth knowledge of an innovative nature, has experience in applying it to solving scientific problems in a certain field. The specified educational and scientific program for the preparation of a doctor of philosophy includes in-depth fundamental, humanitarian, socio-economic, psychological and pedagogical, special and scientific-practical training and the writing a dissertation work in the specializations of speciality 192 "Building and civil engineering" – buildings and structures, including building physics and urban planning.
The term of study is 4 years after obtaining master's degree.
Employment: The PhD has training focused mainly on research and teaching, but can also perform all the functions of a design engineer.
