The main directions of the scientific and practical activity of the teachers of Applied Ecology and Nature Management Department are as follows:
National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic", in particular, the Department of Applied Ecology and Nature Management, has a lot of experience in the environmental sphere, in particular, it is the developer of a number of regional-level program documents, the latest of which are: "Regional Waste Management Plan in Poltava Region until 2030" and "Comprehensive Solid Waste Management Program in Poltava Region for 2022-2030".
The priority of the Department of Applied Ecology and Nature Management is
- scientific and practical work and consulting services to territorial communities and industrial enterprises and companies that are relevant in accordance with the requirements of the current legislation of Ukraine, in particular
- in the field of settlements sanitary cleaning:
- development of sanitation schemes for settlements;
- development of logistics schemes for the routes of garbage collection equipment for territorial communities and individual settlements;
- in the field of waste management:
- calculation of waste generation standards;
- studying the morphological composition of municipal solid waste;
- Assessment of the operational condition and certification of waste disposal sites (landfills, landfills, sludge pits, barns, filtration fields, etc.);
- Inventory of waste within individual enterprises, development of register cards, development of technical waste passports;
- strategic environmental assessment (SEA) of urban planning documents (master plans, detailed plans) and other project documentation;
- environmental impact assessment (EIA) for industrial and commercial facilities;
- work related to the development of air protection documents (inventory of emission sources, control at emission sources and within the sanitary protection zone of enterprises);
- conducting research and development work and studies in specific areas:
- the state and assessment of air pollution in the settlements of Poltava region;
- state and problems of waste management in Poltava region;
- analysis of the state of surface water bodies and the efficiency of the water use system in Poltava region;
- Assessment of the quality and level of protection of groundwater in Poltava Oblast;
- condition and protection of land resources in Poltava region;
- assessment of the technogenic load on the territory of Poltava region and other regions of Ukraine;
- state of the epidemiological and demographic situation, assessment of the dynamics of changes in the level of health of the population of Poltava region and its connection with environmental factors;
- the state and formation of the ecological network, the Emerald Network in the Poltava region;
- study of the state of natural objects of the reserve fund.
- Participation in the work of the following public organizations:
- Public Council at Poltava Regional State Administration;
- Poltava regional organization of the Ukrainian Society for the Protection of Nature;
- Ukrainian Ecological League (UEL);
- Environmental Council of Poltava Region;
- Public organization "Green Heart".
Over the past 5 years, the department's staff has prepared and published more than 400 scientific and educational works, defended 1 Doctor of Science, 1 Candidate of Science, and 1 Doctor of Philosophy dissertation.
One of the main results of the department's research and publishing activities is the development and publication of the Environmental Library of Poltava Region, which consists of a series of information, analytical, scientific and educational publications and is a unique information and educational project in Ukraine. Currently, 15 issues of the Environmental Library of Poltava Region have been published.
