To a foreign student of Oil and Gas Engineering and Technology Department

For a foreign student of oil and gas engineering and technologies
department

Citizens of Ukraine, foreign, and stateless persons legally residing in Ukraine with the appropriate educational (educational and qualification) level who wish to pursue higher education are accepted to the National University «Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic».

Students from Turkmenistan, Angola, Algeria, Afghanistan, Nigeria, Syria, Tunisia, Morocco, India, and other countries have studied at the university. Education for these students is conducted in English.

The preparatory department at the university prepares foreign citizens for admission to higher educational institutions of Ukraine in engineering-technical and economic specialties.

The university provides accommodation in a dormitory to international students.

Admission to the program for training specialists for the degree of Bachelor, Master and Doctor of Philosophy is carried out in the specialty «Oil and Gas Engineering and Technologies».

The university's educational and scientific facilities include: a multifunctional training and research «Drilling Site»; an educational and scientific center for oil and gas fields SIEMENS; training center for education and certification of oil and gas industry specialists Wellsite Digital; a research and production laboratory for drilling fluids.

The oil and gas engineering and technologies graduating department has a modern educational base, which includes: a laboratory for the physics of oil, gas, and gas condensate reservoirs; a laboratory for reservoir fluids and gases; a laboratory for drilling and well operation technologies; a laboratory for drilling and oilfield equipment; an oil and gas training and research field.

Modern computer technologies are implemented in the department. Created a 3D modeling and 3D design laboratory for the oil and gas industry, a 3D visualization and oil and gas engineering laboratory, and an integrated modeling laboratory Petex equipped with computers for students, lecturers, and graduate students. These laboratories are connected to the university's network, providing access to the internet.

The 3D modeling and design laboratory is equipped with licensed software packages, including: Slb (Petrel, Techlog, Eclipse, PetroMod, Pipesim, Intersect, OLGA), S&P Global (IHS Harmony, Kingdom), CMG (CMOST, IMEX, GEM, STARS, WINPROP), Kappa, TNavigator, Petroleum Experts (IPM).

The Petex integrated modeling laboratory is equipped with software such as: Petroleum Experts (IPM), IHS Harmony (Forecast, Reservoir, Optimize), CMG (CMOST, IMEX, GEM, STARS, WINPROP), Kappa (Workstation, Emeraude), TNavigator.

A high level of practical training is ensured through extensive international cooperation with leading global companies (Weatherford, Slb, SymOil) and prominent Ukrainian companies (Ukrgazvydobuvannya, Ukrnafta, PrJSC «Naftogazvydobuvannya», Ukrnaukageocenter, etc.) in scientific and educational fields.

The department’s scientific potential is based on the inventions and scientific works of it’s lecturers. The modern technological base of oil and gas enterprises in the eastern Ukrainian oil and gas-bearing region is used by the graduating departments for laboratory classes and students completing technological internships student practices.

Students are involved in scientific research work. Based on educational plans, students additionally have the opportunity in parallel, starting from the 4th year, or after graduation in 1,5 – 2 years, receive second higher education in economic specialties. In parallel with their studies, students also have the opportunity to obtain working professions in more than 20 professions in the oil and gas sector. Graduates of the oil and gas educational and scientific institute are in great demand on the labor market.

OPPORTUNITIES AND PROSPECTS

Poltava is located in the central part of Ukraine, geologically situated within the Dnieper-Donets depression, which contains significant hydrocarbon reserves. Currently, up to 80% of Ukraine's oil and gas are extracted, transported, and processed here. This region also includes large areas of the Sumy, Kharkiv, and Chernihiv regions. Graduates have the opportunity to work at the region’s main exploration, drilling, extraction, transportation, and processing enterprises.

After obtaining a bachelor's degree, graduates can work in production or continue their studies to obtain a master's degree. The best graduates with in-depth knowledge and abilities for scientific work have the opportunity to enter postgraduate study to obtain the scientific degree of Doctor of Philosophy after completing their master's degree.
