On the occasion of the International Student’s Day and to the 203rd anniversary of the foundation of the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic", lecturers and students of the Department of International Economic Relations and Tourism of the Educational and Research Institute of Finance, Economics, Management and Law held a traditional meeting of graduates of the specialty "Tourism" of different years.
Due to quarantine restrictions caused by the global COVID-19 pandemic, the event changed its usual format and was conducted online. The graduates of 2017, 2018 and 2019 academic years were invited to a constructive dialogue and exchange of impressions about their student years. They also shared the "secret" of their own professional growth.
Successful graduates are the pride and high prestige of the university among the leading Ukrainian and European higher education institutions, a vivid evidence of our graduated specialists' high competitiveness in today's labor market. A living example of the above will be the stories of personal and career growth of graduates of the Educational and Research Institute of Finance, Economics, Management and Law – Alona Panasenko and Kateryna Chelembiienko (2017), Nataliia Bohatyrova (2018) and Antonina Honcharenko (2019), who became active participants in this year's online meeting.
The graduates pursue the occupations for which they are qualified in well-known travel agencies of Ukraine. They willingly shared with students their own experience of employment, interviews and analyzed the benefits of mastering professional competencies in the specialty "Tourism".
According to them, the unique educational environment, the wise and demanding mentors, and scientific activities of their time were the best motivation for them to master the chosen profession as well as build their own careers through numerous attempts and mistakes. For example, Kateryna Chelembiienko joined the creation of a catalog of socially responsible business and became the winner of the Network-A-Thon. Moreover, she was elected as an Ambassador of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (NU SDGs). Graduates of the Department of International Economic Relations and Tourism of Poltava Polytechnic have established themselves among employers as purposeful, ambitious, creative individuals, true leaders who can solve any production or unexpected situation.
"The meeting of different generations graduates is an additional opportunity for student youth of Poltava Polytechnic, who now is doing their degree, to learn the necessary knowledge, communicate and get effective advice from specialists in the field of tourism, management and top management of major travel agencies of Ukraine for further successful professional growth in Ukraine, to be inspired by living examples and overcome insecurity, fear of obstacles as well as implement the creative ideas. The main thing is not to rest on one's laurels, but to use the opportunities provided to the maximum as well as develop one's own scientific, educational and intellectual potential," – said Doctor of Economics, Head of the Department of International Economic Relations and Tourism National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic", Professor Iryna Chychkalo-Kondratska.
The lecturers of the Department of International Economic Relations and Tourism plan to continue close cooperation with leading companies, state institutions, public organizations and invite the most successful graduates of the university to a dialogue with student youth.
It should be recalled that during the University Week of the Educational and Research Institute of Finance, Economics, Management and Law, the staff of the Department of International Economic Relations and Tourism presented itself with student photo projects and professional workshops from business partners and the graduates shared effective advice with the student youth.
