Brief synopsis of the lecture contents:

Under the pressure of neoliberalism and climate change, the 21st century is increasingly becoming an era of catastrophes, and much of contemporary poetry deals with these and related crises. Yet part of the genius of poetry has always been its ability to make magic out of the everyday experiences we all have, often using everyday details as a tool to speak louder about the issues of our time. In this lecture, Isaac Pickell will focus on how poetry can be used to make our impossible realities understandable and find meaning in disasters.
