The Rector, Professor Volodymyr Onyshchenko summarized the work of the team in the 2021/2022 academic year, outlined the tasks for the new academic year, presented Professor, Associate Professor and Doctor of Philosophy Diplomas to the Polytechnic scientists and announced preparations for the celebration of the 205th anniversary of the university's founding.
On September 1, on the occasion of the Day of Knowledge, a solemn meeting of the Conference of the labor collective of the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic" was held. The conference of the labor collective was attended by honored guests – People's Deputy of Ukraine, member of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Humanitarian and Information Policy Andrii Bobliakh and People's Deputy of Ukraine, member of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Finance, Taxation and Customs Policy, head of the Poltava regional branch of the party "Sluha narodu" Oleksii Ustenko. The people's deputies presented a high parliamentary award – for services to the Ukrainian people, the labor collective of the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic" was awarded with a Diploma of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
The results of the team's work in the 2021/2022 academic year and the main strategic tasks for the new academic year were presented on the main stage of the Poltava Polytechnic before the labor collective by the rector of the university, Doctor of Economic Sciences, Professor Volodymyr Onyshchenko.
"We have already started the academic year on August 15, on the recommendation of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and the President of Ukraine, to show the whole world that despite the war, there should be education in Ukraine and children and students should receive a quality one.
National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic" is a leader in education in the face of challenges and threats. This year, we will be working under this slogan and striving for new achievements.
Recalling the tasks set for the last academic year, in accordance with the development program of our university, I will note the fulfillment of such a clause as increasing responsibility for the implementation of contractual obligations by each scientific and pedagogical employee.
Another task was to ensure successful accreditation of educational programs through UCEQA – all 13 accreditation procedures were successfully completed. Currently, we have started the procedure of international accreditation of educational programs by the relevant agencies officially recognized in the world. The first will be one of the educational programs of the "Oil and Gas Engineering and Technologies" specialty.
The "Electronic University" project is in the process of implementation, but I want to confidently say that the basis for the creation of the "E-University" is the high-quality and successful functioning of online education, which has been provided by the staff of our university for many years. An automated educational process management system has been created; the university has an electronic repository, a distance learning platform, an electronic document management system, as well as a patented chatbot for university entrants.
But on February 24, life changed – forever divided into before and after. The educational process in the second semester of the 2021-2022 academic year was also planned to be conducted in a classroom format, but we learned about the terrible news. For the 189th day, a full-scale invasion, a full-scale war with the enemy has been going on in Ukraine. We have proved to the whole world our indomitability, we are sure of our victory.
On the first day of the war, February 24, an operational headquarters was urgently established at the university, which during its activity issued more than 30 regulatory documents that implemented the regulations of our activities under martial law. Responding urgently to the challenges of wartime, we ensured the organization of the educational process, created safe conditions for all employees and students, accommodated temporarily displaced persons, and organized the collection and transfer of humanitarian aid. We went through all the dormitories, promptly equipped bomb shelters.
Students showed themselves well. On their initiative, the Volunteer Headquarters of the University was established. What is important, the founder of the volunteer headquarters was the university graduate Artem Loik, who today is the head of the Center for Culture and Student Creativity as well as the rector's adviser on youth policy. The headquarters ensured the fundraising for the needs of the military; provided aid to wounded soldiers and higher education institutions that suffered from the invaders; helped internally displaced persons and continues to work actively. On the initiative of our students and with the support of people's deputies, a charity concert was held, where we collected 101 thousand hryvnias, and two thermal imagers were purchased for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
It is extremely important that the labor collective and the Academic Council of Poltava Polytechnic supported my initiative and we transferred one-day earnings to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which amounted to almost 300 thousand hryvnias.
It is also important that Poltava Polytechnic has made its contribution at the international level so that the whole world knows about the atrocities committed by the enemy. On behalf of the Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Serhii Shkarlet, Polytechnic Professor Svitlana Onyshchenko took part in the meeting of the International Cooperation Committee and the Presidium of the Conference of Rectors of Polish Academic Schools with the participation of the Minister of Education and Science of Poland Przemysław Czarnek. In her speech, the scientist demonstrated all the horrors of the war in Ukraine. The rectors, standing for a moment of silence, honored the innocent victims of the war. Also, during the speech, she appealed to her European colleagues to support the simplified accession of Ukraine to the EU and the closing of the sky over Ukraine.
You know that our university has always paid much attention to the development of international cooperation, and despite the war, we have recognized the university at the international level. We recently signed an agreement with the Stanisław Staszic Academy of Mining and Metallurgy in Krakow on a dual degree program and academic mobility.
According to the number of submitted applications, Poltava Polytechnic entered the top 50 best universities of Ukraine, taking the 46th position. We are the first-ranked university among institutions of higher education in the Poltava region.
The educational process continues despite the war. We conducted the defense of bachelor’s diploma works – 678 bachelor's degree holders passed face-to-face final attestation, 159 applicants – passed final attestation online. We handed out the bachelor's diplomas on the main stage of the university, but the ceremony was interrupted by an air raid alert and all those present, in compliance with safety conditions, descended into the bomb shelter. In total, 838 students of higher education graduated receiving a diploma in the last academic year.
This year's admission campaign shows that by the number of applications submitted, Poltava Polytechnic entered the top 50 best universities of Ukraine, taking the 46th position in Ukraine. Poltava Polytechnic is on the first place both in the ranking of popularity for entrants among institutions of higher education of the Poltava region, and in academic rankings, in particular, according to indicators of scientific activity, and has become the only university in the Poltava region, which is included in several prestigious and influential rankings of universities in the world.
Next year will be a jubilee year for our university and staff – we will celebrate the 205th anniversary of the university's foundation.
I thank the team for such effective joint work, unity, dedication and I wish you new achievements!
We are holding the educational front and bringing Victory closer! Everything will be Ukraine!" – said the Rector, Professor Volodymyr Onyshchenko.
The rector shared his impressions after visiting the exhibition of destroyed enemy equipment in Kyiv and emphasized the importance of combining high-quality education with national-patriotic education.
During the meeting of the Conference of the labor collective, an important official, but also solemn moment took place, which testifies to the successful activity of scientific schools and the strengthening of the personnel potential of the university – the presentation of certificates, which confirm a scientific title and diplomas on obtaining a scientific degree.
The Certificate of Professor was presented to Professor of the Department of Psychology and Pedagogy, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences Nataliia Saiko.
Two scientists received certificates of Associate Professor:

I sincerely congratulate you and wish you to reach new professional heights!" – congratulated Rector the scientists.
A special award was given to the senior teacher of the Department of Physical Therapy and Ergotherapy, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Physical Culture and Sports of the Poltava Polytechnic, master of sport of the international class of Ukraine in powerlifting Oksana Hordiienko – the Silver Medalist Cup of the European Powerlifting Championships 2022. Recently, the head of the Poltava City Territorial Community Oleksandr Mamai awarded the teacher and an active professional athlete, coach with the Citation for her significant personal contribution to the development of physical culture and sports in the city of Poltava.
"When teachers motivate students by their example, it is the best for both professional growth and education! Ms. Oksana recently won the European Women's Open Bench Press Championships in the weight category up to 52 kg. And it is under her leadership that our students become world champions in powerlifting. Ukraine is strong thanks to such indomitable Ukrainian women!
Thanks for the victories on the sports front! Keep it up!" – thanked the rector.
There was also a ceremony of awarding the leaders of the rating of structural subdivisions and academic workers based on the results of their activities.
At the end of the meeting, classical music was played within the walls of the classical university – the Poltava Polytechnic team was greeted by the musicians of the Poltava Academic Symphony Orchestra, who played a concert with the famous Ukrainian conductor and People's Artist of Ukraine Vitalii Skakun. Brilliant performers of world masterpieces were joined by soloists – Director of the Poltava Regional Center of Folk Art Dmytro Sokolov and Honored Artist of Ukraine Viktoriia Yahidka, and anchor Alina Syniahovska, who, as always, gracefully tuned the audience to a special mood.
"Thank you for these moments of true enjoyment of musical art! You know that the main stage of the Poltava Polytechnic is always open for you!" – thanked Rector Volodymyr Onyshchenko.
In December last year, the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine approved a new university charter, which states the date of establishment of the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic" – December 12, 1818. According to the charter, next year will be a jubilee year – preparations for the celebration of the 205th anniversary of the founding of the university begin.
