On May 14, a charity boxing tournament was held at the state-of-the-art sports base of the National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” in support of the Separate Special Action Detachment “Centuria” of the 3rd Separate Assault Brigade. The competition was held under the auspices of the Department of Physical Culture and Sports of the Poltava City Council and the comprehensive support of the Public Organization “Young Pride” together with the Charitable Foundation “Free and Unbreakable”. The main sponsor of the tournament was the Football Club “Vorskla” in the person of the General Director Oleh Lysak, assistance in holding the sports event was also provided by the IMAGE OLL INVEST company, the chain of coffee shops “Kofeman – Coffee with you”, the sportswear store “SETKA”, the restaurant chain “Rock-n-Roll”, sports and active lifestyle store “Fora Sport”, massage studio “Aura – a place that will suit everyone”, flower shop “Flora de Luxe”.
The participants of the charity boxing tournament were greeted by the guests of honour – the Dean of the Faculty of Physical Culture and Sports of the National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic”, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor Lina Rybalko, the founder of the Charity Foundation “Free and Unbreakable” Denys Kliap and the chief judge of the competition, Master of Sports of Ukraine in boxing, head coach of the Sports Club “Young Pride” Emin Makhmudov.
Traditionally, the tournament began with pledging allegiance to the National Flag and honouring the defenders and civilians who died as a result of the armed aggression of the russian federation against Ukraine with a Minute of Silence.
The dean of the Faculty of Physical Culture and Sports of the Poltava Polytechnic, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor Lina Rybalko greeted the attendees and conveyed the most sincere wishes of success in conquering new sports peaks from the Rector, Professor Volodymyr Onyshchenko.
“I am extremely glad to see so many caring citizens of Poltava, conscious Ukrainians. I am very grateful to you for taking part in competitions, popularizing and developing professional and amateur sports among young people. I wish everyone spectacular matches, worthy opponents and magical victories in the boxing ring. Glory to Ukraine!” – greeted the participants the founder of the Charitable Foundation “Free and Unbreakable” Denys Kliap.
“Thanks to our Armed Forces, we are able to hold tournaments, train athletes, prepare them for competitions. I wish all participants to demonstrate their technique and best qualities. It is a friendly tournament, but at the same time, boxing is a competition. I wish all the athletes a thirst for victory, may the strongest win!” – noted Emin Makhmudov.
For the development of sports in the Poltava region, comprehensive assistance in the organization of the charity tournament in support of the Separate Special Action Detachment “Centuria”, the organizers recognized with honorary thanks the following:
- Lina Rybalko – Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor, Dean of the Faculty of Physical Culture and Sports of the National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic”;
- Denys Kliap – the founder of the Charitable Foundation “Free and Unbreakable”;
- Emin Makhmudov – the main judge of the competition, Master of Sports of Ukraine in boxing.
Athletes from the sports club “Young Pride”, children’s and youth sports school “Poltava”, Poltava children’s and youth sports school No. 4, children’s and youth sports school “Olympic Hopes”, sports club “Bro Boxing”, sports club “Resistance” from Opishnia and athletes from the city of Kremenchuk became participants in the competition.
During the competition, the participants of the tournament demonstrated their sportsmanship, and the audience loyally cheered for their favourite athletes.
The organizers will transfer the charitable contributions received from the tournament to the needs of the Separate Special Action Detachment “Centuria” of the 3rd Separate Assault Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Previously, Poltava region rescuers competed for first place at the Poltava Region Athletics Championship among employees of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, a table tennis tournament among pupils and students was held at the Polytechnic, the Open Club Championship of Ukraine with Taekwon-Do GTF was held on the basis of the Polytechnic, and on International Dance Day, all-Ukrainian sports dance competition “Poltava Polytechnic Rector’s Cup” was hosted.
