For a significant personal contribution to the development of national education, the training of qualified specialists, courage and self-sacrifice shown in the protection of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, many years of fruitful teaching activity and high professionalism, the President of Ukraine awarded the honorary title of “Honored Worker in Science and Technology of Ukraine” to the Doctor of Economic Sciences, Professor of the Department of Finance, Banking Business and Taxation Svitlana Onyshchenko.
The authoritative Ukrainian scientist specializes in the theory and practice of forming and ensuring financial and budgetary security at the state and regional levels, problems and prospects of strengthening the economic security of Ukraine and has a solid scientific output and achievements.
Scientific developments of Svitlana Volodymyrivna are embodied in programs and strategies important for the economy of Ukraine. For her important developments, the scientist became a laureate of the annual award of the President of Ukraine for young scientists in 2011, and later – a laureate of the State Prize of Ukraine in the field of science and technology in 2014.
For more than 20 years of work, the scientist has worked her way up from a laboratory assistant at the Department of Economic and Legal Management Methods to a professor at the Department of Finance, Banking Business and Taxation of the National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic”.
In 2010, studies at the postgraduate school of the Kharkiv National Academy of Urban Economy ended with the successful defense of a candidate’s thesis and the receipt of the degree of Candidate of Economic Sciences. In 2014, she started working on her doctoral dissertation, becoming a doctoral student at the Department of Finance of the Faculty of Economics at Kyiv National University named after Taras Shevchenko. In 2017, she brilliantly defended her doctoral dissertation on the specialty 08.00.08 “Money, Finance, Credit” at the Kyiv National University named after Taras Shevchenko.
The scientist is the author of 125 academic and educational works, including 11 monographs, 2 textbooks, 3 teaching appliances. She has 15 copyright certificates. Her articles are published in international scientific databases Scopus, Web of Science Index Copemicus, Science Index, Periodicals Directorv, Goofile Scholar, RePEc, OCLC WorldCat, Bielefeld Academic Search Engine (BASE) and others. She is a member of the editorial boards of scientific specialized publications of Ukraine.
Her civil position and decisive actions since the beginning of the full-scale russian invasion of Ukraine deserve special respect. The professor of the Poltava Polytechnic began to carry out an educational and humanitarian mission in the international academic community and spoke in Poland with an appeal to her colleagues to support the simplified accession of Ukraine to the EU. On behalf of the Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Serhii Shkarlet, a professor of the National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” took part in the meeting of the International Cooperation Committee and the Presidium of the Conference of Rectors of Academic Schools in Poland (KRASP) with the participation of the Minister of Education and Science of Poland Przemysław Czarnek, representatives of the Polish government and rectors of leading Polish universities. Svitlana Onyshchenko presented the situation in Ukrainian education in the conditions of war, thanked the Polish people for their absolute support of Ukraine in an extremely difficult time for us and difficult for the whole of Europe, shelter for refugees, opportunities for children and students, and called for further joint struggle against the aggressor. Her message was categorically against any cooperation with the russian federation, for preventing the expansion of military aggression and fully condemning the violation of the principles of democracy and peace in the world.
It should be recalled that last year the President of Ukraine awarded the scientist of the Educational and Research Institute of Finance, Economics, Management and Law with the honorary title “Honored Worker in Education of Ukraine” on the occasion of the Day of Science, and on the occasion of the Constitution Day of Ukraine – the honorary title “Honored Worker in Science and Technology of Ukraine” to the scientist of the Educational and Research Institute of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Land Management, Professor Serhii Pichuhin.
