On March 21, 2023, within the framework of fruitful scientific and educational cooperation with leading European educational institutions and with the personal support of the rector, Professor Volodymyr Onyshchenko, the owner and managing director of the German language school “StartDeutsch Schule” Markus Peuser paid a working visit to the National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” .

At the invitation of the Dean of the Faculty of Philology, Psychology and Pedagogy, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor Anna Aheicheva, a native speaker held interactive master classes for future translators at the Ukrainian-German Language Centre and the Polytechnic Student Hub in order to exchange professional experiences and modern methods of teaching a foreign language.

It is worth noting the meaningful and extraordinary format, the interactive delivery of the presented language material, the latest methods, the bright visuals of the lecture and the personal charisma of the speaker. Markus Peuser easily and casually engaged the student youth in communication and practical German language classes took place in a friendly atmosphere of easy communication as well as dialogic interaction.

According to the Head of the Department of Germanic Philology and Translation of the Poltava Polytechnic, Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor Oksana Vorobiova, it is practical classes with native speakers that contribute to the effective, in-depth training of future philologists-translators, inspiring and giving the opportunity for speech development of modern youth.

“Everyone enjoyed the day full of language master classes, immersion in a foreign language atmosphere, and the exchange of creative ideas, even the first-year students of majors 035 “Philology” and 014 “Secondary Education”, who are just taking their first steps in learning the German language. Students joined the work, demonstrating their own knowledge and communicating on a wide variety of topics. Similar language experience, easy professional communication will certainly be useful to both students and teachers of the Department of Germanic Philology and Translation. The advanced methods of language learning used by Mr Peuser positively contributed to the discovery of the creative potential of our students, who discussed, created speech situations, participated in thematic competitions and sang from the heart.

Future translators received a new powerful incentive to improve their own language skills, because presenting yourself, your own university is extremely exciting, and knowing a foreign language will definitely help you get along in any country. In my personal opinion, to feel on the same page with people, to know that you are understood, comprehensively supported and helped, to be able to easily acquire the necessary knowledge, to spend meaningful time at the university, to smile in response to a smile or a warm open look from others, sharing positive impressions from the day spent together with such cool professionals is incredible! We sincerely thank you for the opportunity, we look forward to new meetings,” – commented the scientist.

At the end of the master classes, students and teachers of the university shared their impressions, thanking the speaker for the new experience. A pleasant “bonus” for the youth of the Poltava Polytechnic was free access to intensive online courses “StartDeutsch Schule”. Everyone, without exception, will be able to master modern translation life hacks, listen to lectures by professional speakers, deepen the acquired practical knowledge, pass self-tests and communicate with native speakers.

According to Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Germanic Philology and Translation of the National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” Oleksandr Tupytsia, the importance of such master classes cannot be overestimated: “Direct communication with native speakers creates motivation for further study of a foreign language by young people, giving us, as university mentors, new methodical ideas. My colleagues and I will be able to evaluate the language abilities of our students in a new way, understand the future directions of joint scientific and educational activities. We are sincerely grateful to Mr Markus Peuser for his openness to joint initiatives, we are sure that we will have many more interesting meetings ahead.”

Academic staff of the Department of Germanic Philology and Translation of the Poltava Polytechnic thanked the speaker and discussed with the managing director of the German language school “StartDeutsch Schule” Markus Peuser the prospects for further cooperation, in particular the possibility of participating in the speaking club, holding interesting events for educators and the German language teachers in the city of Poltava and Poltava region.

It should be recalled that philologists of the Polytechnic conduct online courses in the German language for Ukrainians relocated to Germany, a graduate student translator became a scholarship holder of the German DAAD program, three female students of the Polytechnic underwent a language intensive in Germany, a professor of philology took part in an international project of modern methods of studying the German language, and participants of the Summer Language School improved their knowledge of the German language at master classes from certified tutors.
