On October 15, students of Mining and Oil and Gas Engineering and Earth Sciences had a unique opportunity to deepen their knowledge thanks to an educational lecture by Stanislav Demchenko – a university alumnus who has successfully advanced from a student of Poltava Polytechnic to Chief Specialist of the Exploration and Prospecting Drilling Department at DTEK Oil & Gas, the most technological and innovative oil and gas production company in Ukraine.

The meeting was moderated by Volodymyr Hrymaniuk, HR Department Manager at DTEK Oil & Gas and PhD in Technical Sciences.

The event took place within the framework of the partnership between Poltava Polytechnic and DTEK Oil & Gas, which traditionally supports the University’s educational initiatives aimed at training highly qualified professionals for Ukraine’s fuel and energy sector.
The topic of the lecture – “Drill String Stuck” – proved to be extremely relevant for future industry specialists, as solving modern drilling challenges requires profound theoretical knowledge and practical experience.
During the lecture, Stanislav Demchenko explained to students the mechanisms of complications arising during well drilling and shared professional case studies from DTEK Oil & Gas practice. The participants had the opportunity to learn firsthand about the real challenges faced by industry specialists and the modern technologies that help effectively overcome them.

Students actively asked the speaker questions, showed great interest in the latest trends in the field, and discussed employment prospects.
The professional journey of Stanislav Demchenko, Chief Specialist of the Exploration and Prospecting Drilling Department at DTEK Oil & Gas, is a vivid example of how a high-quality basic education becomes a reliable foundation for building a successful career in strategically important sectors of the economy. It is especially valuable that alumni do not forget their alma mater and return to share their accumulated experience with the next generation of students.
Such meetings are an integral part of the educational process at National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic”, as they combine academic training with real-life production cases, show students the prospects of professional development, and help them better understand the practical application of theoretical knowledge. The University continues to strengthen its strategic partnership with DTEK Oil & Gas, expanding opportunities for internships, practical training, dual education, and future employment of graduates.
Earlier, Poltava Polytechnic hosted a lecture by DTEK Oil & Gas Manager Andrii Sydorenko dedicated to modern drilling technologies and innovations. Students also learned about the latest well research technologies from Lukasz Ostrowski, Director of Service Business at DTEK Oil & Gas, while Vitalii Zinkovskyi, DTEK Compliance Manager, introduced them to the principles of ethical business conduct, anti-corruption standards, and the role of compliance services in modern companies.
