Ecologist Day: Authors of Thermal Power Station Influence Research Win at International Scientific Competition

The International Student Research Competition in Ecology was held at Kremenchuk Mykhailo Ostrohradskyi National University. The competition was organized under the aegis of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine with the goal to integrate Ukraine into the European educational and scientific space, extend the international connections, motivate the students’ innovative activity, help them learn modern technologies, create conditions for forming the intellectual potential of talented youth.

The competition received 44 scientific articles of 68 authors from 14 Ukrainian and 12 foreign higher education institutions. Students from Ukraine, Slovenia, Belarus, Bulgaria, Poland, China, the Czech Republic, Israel, Austria and Georgia took part in the qualifying round.

The competition winners were determined according to the results of the meeting of jury (the specialized competition commission). The articles were evaluated with the method of two ‘blind’ reviews and discussion.

The joint work of the student of group 201NT of Education and Research Institute of Oil and Gas, the President of the University Student Parliament Oleksandr Lytvynenko, and the Heat Power Engineering Master’s student, graduate of Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic and now student of Southwest Jiaotong University (China) Kateryna Kytaihora called “The Optimization of Thermal Power Station Influence While Using Different Fuels” received the largest number of points and was ranked the first. The academic advisor of the students was the Head of the Department of Heat and Gas Supply, Ventilation and Heat Power Engineering, PhD in Engineering, Professor Yurii Holik. The authors were awarded diplomas.
