“While visiting Poltava region I was surprised by the development level of National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic”. It had advanced technologies, modern design of facilities, comfortable space, developed infrastructure, but the most important thing was that the education in the main fields is integrated into a real sector. Not many Ukrainian higher education institutions have such achievements.

“The graduates of oil and gas specializations are headhunted by such companies as “Burova Tekhnika” STC, Ukrgazvydobyvannya, Weatherford Ukraine and other leading companies of the industry,” the member of the parliament Oleksandr Marikovskyi commented. He also added that modern educational technologies in studying help graduates to become strong and able to adapt to various realia, and the university has a very systematic and up-to-date approach to the educational process.

Recently, university has realized joined projects with leading oil and gas companies. A training center for training and certifying specialists of oil and gas industry in accordance with the standards of IWCF was opened in partnership with the Wellsite Digital, the educational and scientific center of oil and gas industry by Siemens and the laboratories of DTEK and Schlumberger were opened for oil and gas students.

The university academic staff told the guests about the unique opportunities for students and teachers opened thanks to these laboratories and centers, about the achievements in international competitions and professional contests.

“It is incredibly pleasant that this year we have been joined in the communication and work on strategic problems by the members of the parliament, in particular the Committee of Ecological Policy and Nature Management of Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. I am sure that the success in future consists of a good combination of production and treatment of oil and gas, as well as of care for preserving the nature and its resources in Ukraine. And the support of the state is very important here.

“During the visit we have developed a range of constructive suggestions for improving some of the laws in the legislation of the oil and gas production, waste management etc.

“Our university became a great example of the high results which can be achieved by the success formula, in which education workers, scientists, business representatives, in particular the representatives of oil and gas production companies, and government representatives, in particular the members of the parliament, join their efforts at the university.

“Companies invest in the development of university facilities, and that is how they ensure more high-quality training of specialists. As a result, it contributes to ensuring energy independence of our country.

“I am proud that our graduates make up more than a half of the staff of the most powerful companies, both in production and in service… It is the cooperation of education and business that plays a very important role in this. It is an incredibly responsible mission. University will continue modernizing, developing, working as a center of science development and a communication space for different industries,” Rector Volodymyr Onyshchenko said.

It isn’t just the practical aspect that matters in the higher education of future specialists, but also the scientific activity and research. Students actively participate in the international students’ scientific association.

Ukrainian companies and Ukrainian specialists are from now on working in the market in which only foreign companies were able to work until recently. The Director General of “Burova Tekhnika” STC, a member of the Supervisory Board of National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” Vitalii Vitryk emphasized the importance of high-quality training of oil and gas workers: “Today, Ukrainian companies confidently work in the market in which only foreign companies were able to work until recently. We have bought new equipment from abroad, supplied high-qualified personnel ready to work to the enterprises.

“The main rule for foreign service companies in starting operation on any territory is that 70-80% of people involved in the project have to be the citizens of the country into which the investors are coming. It helps Ukrainians to learn new technologies, we provide employment to Ukrainian people and pay taxes in our country. In the end, we reach the level when we can perform any kind of works by ourselves.”

The world oil and gas service companies are interesting for Ukraine in the context of investment office, announced by the President of Ukraine during the World Economic Forum in Davos.
