The Department of Germanic Philology and Translation organized and held a course of workshop on translation and the English language for the school students of Poltava. The first participants of the events became the students of Poltava Scientific Lyceum No. 3. The workshops were held within the course “The Methods of Teaching Translation”.
Every student presented an interesting topic causing an active discussion with the participants. The student of the Faculty of Humanities Nelia Bechkalo’s presentation was called “English Shortenings and Abbreviations” and it managed to engage the participants at once. Nowadays all the languages tend to simplifications, especially concerning typing on smartphones, when whole sentences can be changed to abbreviations requiring decoding. The tenth-grade students also learned more about psychology and the things causing stress, discussed the problems preventing you from coping with stress.
The student of group 501HF of National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” Maksym Domarenko presented the most well-known literature genres and the best achievements of the world’s literature to the students. They inwrapped in the diverse world of literature, discussed the problematic questions and expressed their own thoughts on the works. The graduate student of the Faculty of Humanities Anastasiia Sydorova held the round table on Cinematography, during which the participants discussed the movie genres, shared their impressions of modern movies and named their favorite ones.
During the meeting with the lyceum students, the student of group 501HF Vanessa Andriienko presented them the topic “On the Plane”. The participants could travel to Italy, visit Rome online, learn the types of flights and what you can do during the flight.
For almost a year, the agreement on scientific and educational cooperation between National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” and Poltava Scientific Lyceum No. 3 has been in effect. The educational institutions share the same goals, which are to encourage talented youth to take part in the scientific activity, and to form the educational potential of Poltava region. The teachers of the Department of Germanic Philology and Translation are thankful to the team of Poltava Scientific Lyceum No. 3 for the fruitful cooperation, and to their students for taking active part in the joint events.
