Famous Poltava Athletes Visit Olympic Lesson

Within the cooperation of National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” and Poltava Children and Youth Sport School (PCYSS) “Youth-2016”, the Faculty of Sport held an open Olympic lesson.

On the occasion of the Olympic Sport Week in Ukraine, the faculty of the Department of Sport and Physical Education held an event combining motivation, communication with the stars of Ukrainian sport, and popularization of sport and high achievements. The guests and teachers shared their own vision of success of professional athletes.

“We have a great chance to speak with the professionals of their work, listen to their stories and get inspired for our own sport achievements. It is useful for the first-year students to listen to the fellow athletes’ pieces of advice, get interested in a new kind of sport, learn about self-discipline and responsibility. Behind every medal or champion rank there are years of hard work and training for achieving the sport goals,” the Head of the Department of Sport of National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” Lina Rybalko commented.

The guests of the meeting with the first-year students of the Faculty of Sport of National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” included the Honored Trainer of Ukraine in Football, Master of Sport of Ukraine in Football, the main trainer of PCYSS “Youth-2016”, ex-player of Vorskla-Poltava Serhii Khodyriev; the Master of Sport of Ukraine in Football, candidate to the main team of the Football Team of Ukraine, player of Vorskla-Poltava, bronze champion of the Championship of Ukraine in Football Vladyslav Kulach; the International Class Master of Sport of Ukraine in Kettlebell Lifting Yaroslav Sushko; the Honored Master of Sport of Ukraine in Kettlebell Lifting, the World Champion in 2019, Champion of Ukraine in Kettlebell Lifting, of European Championships in Kettlebell Lifting Ihor Havryshko; and the Master of Sport of Ukraine in Kettlebell Lifting, the Champion of Europe among Juniors in Kettlebell Lifting in 2018, 2019, the bronze champion of the World Championship-2019, Champion of Ukraine Yevhen Ostapchuk. Four titled athletes are now graduate students of the specialization No. 017 Physical Education and Sport of the Faculty of Sport of our university.

The event was moderated by the Doctor of Pedagogy, Head of the Department of Sport and Physical Education of National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” Lina Rybalko.

The guests talked about the ways of building a sport career, the process of getting ready for sport competitions and championships, shared their plans on professional future.

The athletes wished inspiration, strength and motivation to the students and told them, that the key to success is the training. The most active participants of the meeting were the students of group 102HS. They were interested in how the athletes built their sport career, which victory was the most important in their career, whether they have special rituals for preparing to the competitions, and how much time do they need to get ready for their performances. The athletes inspired the freshmen to think about their own life goals and mindset and concentrate on the achievements and ambitious plans, as the students commented after the meeting.

The first-year students did not only had a good time, but also were invited to participate in the sport clubs in football and kettlebell lifting.

“I would like wish that you have a dream, reach your goals and remember that no matter what obstacles you meet on your way, you can change the means of achieving your goal, but you can’t give up! Do not betray the moral values, remaining a good person no matter what level you achieve in sport. May success in studying, science and sport attend you, may you have new victories and achievements!” the Dean of the Faculty of Sport Nataliia Beseda wished to the first-year students.

The All-Ukrainian Olympic Lesson is held annually in September to popularize sport, promote active lifestyle, and to celebrate the Day of Sport of Ukraine.
