Freshman of FPCS becomes European champion in canoeing among juniors and youth

A student of group 101-FS of Faculty of Physical Culture and Sports of the National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” Yaroslav Verbliud became the European champion in canoeing among juniors and youth under 23 years, having won a convincing victory in the canoe double at the distance of 500 metres.

It should be recalled that the 2024 ECA Junior and U23 Canoe Sprint European Championships took place in Slovakia from 27 to 30 June 2024. Athletes from 36 European countries competed for the championship and sets of honorary awards, demonstrating excellent physical fitness and passion for victory. 

A student of academic group 101-FS of Faculty of Physical Culture and Sports of the National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” Yaroslav Verbliud became the European champion in rowing among youth and juniors as a member of the national team of Ukraine, having won the 500-metre canoe double. 

In total, 38 athletes represented our country at the prestigious European tournament. 9 athletes from Poltava won six medals of various types, and the national team of Ukraine won 5 gold, 3 silver and 3 bronze medals. 

We are proud of our athlete and wish him good health, peaceful skies and new significant sporting achievements! 

It should be recalled that recently the first-year students of the FPCS won a full set of awards at the Ukrainian Canoeing Championship, and the master student of the Polytechnic became a gold and silver medallist of the II stage of the World Canoeing Cup.
