On June 1, 2023, students of specialty 281 “Public Management and Administration” of the Educational and Research Institute of Finance, Economics, Management and Law of the National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” became active participants in the educational excursion, during which they talked with employees of the executive apparatus and representatives of the deputy building of the Poltava Regional Council. The future public managers familiarized themselves with the specifics of the activity of the public authority by visiting the key workplaces of various structural departments.
The study visit took place within the framework of familiarizing the student youth of the Poltava Polytechnic with the structure and capabilities of local self-government bodies, and the constructive dialogue of future specialists in the field of public administration with representatives of power structures will certainly serve as a positive motivator for ambitious young people to enter public service for the post-war recovery and development of our state.
The tour-introduction for future managers was conducted by the Chairman of the Permanent Commission on Education, Science and Culture of the Poltava Regional Council, Candidate of Sciences in Public Administration Didenko Oleh Hryhorovych, who spoke in detail about the structure of one of the key local self-government bodies, focusing separately on the work of the deputy corps, in particular permanent and temporary commissions in the field of education, science and culture, health care and social protection of the population; law enforcement activities, fighting corruption, ensuring the rights and needs of military personnel and combatants.
The head of the Legal Support Department of the Poltava Regional Council Larysa Evhenivna Metelska also joined the constructive dialogue with future specialists in the field of public administration and shared interesting practical cases as well as professional life hacks with the purposeful young students of the Poltava Polytechnic, emphasizing the need to cultivate honesty and hard work.
As part of the event, Tamara Hryhorivna Syniavska, the deputy head of the office managing the affairs of the executive office of the Poltava Regional Council, reviewed important aspects of the system of local self-government and the functioning of the National Agency for Civil Service.
The speaker provided the students with comprehensive information on the organization and functioning of the local self-government system, spoke about the role and powers of local self-government bodies, as well as the interaction of local authorities with national structures.
During the tour, students had the opportunity to ask questions and discuss current issues with speakers. The meeting was an excellent opportunity for future professionals to gain practical knowledge and expand their own understanding of the processes taking place in the system of local self-government and public service.
According to Assistant of the Department of Public Management, Administration and Law of the National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” Valeriia Olehivna Shulha, the meeting with the representatives of the Poltava Regional Council undoubtedly became a valuable experience for the students of the Poltava Polytechnic, helping them acquire practical knowledge and skills, as well as inspiring on the development of conscientiousness and diligence in their future careers.
At the end, the students shared their impressions of the extremely informative and inspiring meeting, which helped to understand important aspects of local self-government and public service.
Previously, student youth and the authority: future public managers got acquainted with the work of the Poltava Regional Military Administration; scientists, students and practitioners exchanged useful cases in the field of public administration on the basis of the Department of the National Mediation and Conciliation Service in the Poltava region; future professionals learned how to overcome barriers in communication with employers.
