“Good afternoon, we are from Ukraine”: a charity concert of artists of the Poltava Regional Philharmonic takes place in the Polytechnic

A charity concert was held on April 19 at the Center for Culture and Student Creativity of the National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic”. The event was attended by Ukrainians who were forced to leave their homes as a result of the Russian-Ukrainian war as well as university employees who continue their educational and scientific activities during the war.

The creative event was opened by the Honored Artist of Ukraine, director of the children’s producers center “Kvitohrai” Tetiana Sadokhina who performed Ukrainian folk songs.

Honored Artist of Ukraine Mykola Harmash wrote his own poems on famous Russian songs, ridiculing the enemy with their pop hits – “There was a Muscovite”, “Glory to Ukraine” and “I’m not a Muscovite”.

“I built my performances in a completely new manner. I am an ordinary Honored Artist of Ukraine, an ordinary performer, an ordinary vocalist who sang songs about love, about separation, there’s almost nothing that I didn’t sing about. But now it’s time for other songs and I thought: “How will I look people in the eye and explain why I perform songs by Russian authors?” Then I read how our fighters take away Russian tanks, armored personnel carriers, weapons – it inspired me. That’s how I turn their songs against them,” – commented Mykola Harmash.

Rapper, a graduate of Poltava Polytechnic Artem Loik read his new poems and performed the song “Raging”, which became a joint creative project with university students.

The Poltava band “Kraiany” (Honored Artist of Ukraine Serhii Starchenko, Anatolii Pyliai, Alina Filipiuk, Vitalii Pidopryhora) also performed for the audience.

“A nation that sings during the war, that captures the melodies of ruscist invaders, is definitely invincible. We wholeheartedly thank you for the mood, thank you sincerely for your fighting spirit. You have given incredible emotions, which are so lacking, since we are all oppressed by the war. But art returns the thirst for life and struggle. I dream of a concert at the National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” on the second day after Ukraine’s victory over the Russian invader. Everything will be Ukraine!” – thanked the rector of the university, Professor Volodymyr Onyshchenko.

The host of the concert program, artist of the Poltava Regional Philharmonic Kateryna Kibenko presented the director of the event, Honored Worker of Culture of Ukraine Larysa Semeniaha and the organizer Aliona Vasylenko.

“I want to tell you that for the actor, as well as for a fighter at the front – one shoots and the other brings cartridges. So now – the actors sang, and you brought us cartridges with your applause. But how accurate our shots were. Thank you very much for a worthy audience. We respect you, spectator!” – expressed her gratitude Larysa Semeniaha.

Earlier, Poltava actors staged an interactive play for temporarily displaced families.
