From the moment of arriving in Ukraine, the foreigners must abide to the law system of our country, that is why the university administration holds preventive and informational events.
Every year, at the end of August the Rector of Poltava Polytechnic, Professor Volodymyr Onyshchenko initiates meetings with foreign students and the university services working with them. This year, the meeting was joined by the police. The participants of the meeting discussed the law system, the conflict solving means, the rules of staying, and the responsibility for doing crimes with the example of a recent incident with an ex-student from Sudan.
The patrol police and the migration services control the foreign citizens in Poltava region. In case of incidents, they react in the following way: they record the fact of law violation, collect administrative materials, and bring the guilty to responsibility according to the current law, or they ensure the protection of rights of the foreigners in case they become the victims of crimes or law violations.
“University actively cooperates with specialized services and holds informational meetings for students from other countries to prevent law violation. Such events are held at university at the beginning of every academic year. The Administration of Poltava Polytechnic does not only care for the high-quality of educational process for the international students, but also cares for following the law system, the rules of staying and of civil order both at university and in our country in general,” the Vice Rector for Scientific and International Work Svitlana Sivitska said.
The commander of the Patrol Police in Poltava Region Serhii Varava explained where the students should appeal to in case of any problems, and reminded of the driving rules: “The foreign students, just as the citizens of Ukraine, can call the hot line by dialing 102. As to the driving discipline, I recommend that the people who have a car registered abroad receive an international driving license. If its country of origin is in the convention, you should receive the driving license in our service center.”
The Director of Students’ Town Andrii Postavnyi reminded the main rules of students’ stay in the dormitories, the necessity of keeping order at the territory of university, and the requirements to follow lockdown limitations.
The informational work is aimed at forming negative attitude towards law violations, fighting legal nihilism and enhancing the legal culture. It is still one of priorities in extracurricular work with international students.
