The Black Sea University Network (office in Romania) has strongly condemned the military aggression and called for putting an end to hostilities and for taking all necessary steps to restore peaceful dialogue in the region.
“These days, more than ever, we have to look to what we have in common and not to what divides us. Mutual respect and collaboration must represent the essential values for reestablishing peace in our region. We support our colleagues from Ukraine and we hope that our appeal shall be taken into consideration by the decision-makers and the civil society,” – reads the message.
Former rector of Poznan University of Technology, Tomasz Łodygowski wrote a personal address:
“To our friends and brothers in Ukraine in Kyiv, Kharkiv, Lviv and other places dear to my heart. Dear our Ukrainian friends!
For many days we had been working together on joint plans for scientific cooperation and education of the young generation. We shared a lot of successes in this area.
Today, in the face of a brutal attack on Ukraine’s sovereignty, we are suffering together with you, looking at the great misfortunes and heroically fighting for the freedom of our country and people, but also for our freedom, as we are not sure what will happen in the sick minds of Russian authorities.
We try to help the Ukrainian people in various ways. We have prepared aid points and made decisions on first aid and security for refugees in Poland.
Our university, Poznan University of Technology, is also ready to accept, in particular, our students and doctoral students from Ukraine, their families and relatives, who are in need of support. We also organize other forms of assistance in the city, which we consider the most effective in the current situation.
We care about the fate of each of you in the hope that we can meet again in a safe atmosphere. We hail all our Ukrainian friends who are especially close to us today.
Be safe to proudly raise your head after the victory. GLORY TO UKRAINE!”
Canadian Grassroots Institute provides full moral and institutional support to partner/cooperating institutions and other organizations in Ukraine; creates a special platform for Ukraine where all their existing and potential partners/employees can leave their appeals/requests. Activation is scheduled for March 10, 2022. Soon all Ukrainian universities, institutes, colleges, public organizations, city/village councils, citizen groups, etc. will be invited to create and post their appeals/requests on this platform:
“On individual level, we have mobilized our peer networks to sign petitions, to condemn the aggressor and aggression, to assist directly the groups seeking help, and so on. We have written messages and letters to global institutions and key international organizations for pressurizing Russia to stop the war unconditionally.
Having limitations of operating non-politically, we envisage a massive humanitarian crisis in Ukraine following the large-scale war against the people of this country. We also understand that along with the economy, infrastructure, social fabric, health facilities, basic amenities, food and water, and human living, the educational apparatus of Ukraine is going to crumble remarkably. In this row, schools, higher education institutions, universities and colleges will also be affected badly. At the moment, it is a priority and urgency to stop the war to escape further loss of lives, infrastructure, human sufferings and exodus of the people.
Post-war, support of entire world shall be required to rebuild and rehabilitate the war-affected people, institutions, educational centers and civil society. The world over, individuals and organizations must have to extend help to develop supporting networking. Envisaging such a need, The Grassroots Institute will create a “special platform” on ggN (Grassroots Global Network) [www.grassrootsglobal.net] specially for Ukraine where all our existing and potential partners/collaborators can park their appeals/requests.
Meanwhile, we cancel a Lecture scheduled on 9 March 2022 specifically for Ukrainian scientific authors. We apologize for this, but the life of our beloved Ukrainian citizens is far more important. We can fix many such lectures later. Our prays and hearted support are with all the people of Ukraine,” – write Canadian colleagues.
