"Mathematical March" starts at Poltava Polytechnic

On the occasion of International PI Day and the International Mathematics Day, the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic" launched "Mathematical March" – a project organized by the Department of Higher and Applied Mathematics of Educational and Research Institute of Information Technologies and Robotics. From March 13 to 27, the youth of the Poltava region will have the opportunity to participate in lectures, master classes and interactions to discover the interesting world.

On the occasion of International PI Day, the Department of Higher and Applied Mathematics of the Educational and Research Institute of Information Technologies and Robotics of the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic" organized the "Mathematical March" project.

From March 13 to 27, various lectures, master classes and interactions will be held on the basis of the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic" the purpose of which is to popularize mathematical sciences among the youth of the Poltava region:

  • March 13 – "Probable and improbable mathematics" (Case study, venue – Siemens room, 10:00 a.m.);

  • March 14 – "Mathematical Battle" (Interactive game, venue – room 417-F, 10:00 a.m.);

  • March 15 – Possible and impossible in mathematics (Lecture-discussion);

  • March 16 – Identification of computer files using hash functions (Master class from IT specialists of PNDEKNNTS, venue – room 318-Ц, 1:30 p.m.);

  • March 22 – Water in mathematical problems (STEM lesson, venue – Siemens room, 10:00 a.m.);
  • March 22 – Virtual tour to the International Scientific and Educational Center of Information Technologies and Systems of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine (venue – room 318-C, 11:30 a.m.);

  • March 27 – Mathematical models in information technologies (student scientific round table, venue – Siemens room, 11:30 a.m.).

The events will take place in a mixed format, with online participants able to join via Zoom.

This year's celebration of International Mathematics Day in Ukraine was driven by the Junior Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. The Institute of Mathematics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine supports a series of popular science events. Among the announced events is the First All-Ukrainian Scientific Pi Conference. It is open to students of grades 8-11, college students and students of 1-2 years of higher education institutions, who will have a great opportunity to test their scientific achievements in front of experienced colleagues. Pleasant gifts await conference participants.

Earlier, the first-year students of the Faculty of Philology, Psychology and Pedagogy created a creative project "On the Edge of Poetry and Fire"  in their German language classes to mark Kobzar's birthday.
