A member of the Polytechnic volunteer headquarters speaks about the peculiarities of volunteering in wartime

Yaroslav Perederii, a specialist in the Department of Culture for Working with Students and Gifted youth of the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic", a graduate of the Educational and Research Institute of Finance, Economics, Management and Law, became a participant in the project "Diary of Stories of Poltava Youth "Young and Indomitable!", in which he told about his volunteering during the war.

"With the beginning of the war, I realized that you need to be there and do what you are very good at and have experience in. During the first week, I was convinced of this when I received many calls from the military and IDPs that everyone needed help. Therefore, as a volunteer, I am obliged to help and solve various issues for the needs of the military and displaced persons.

Together with the family, we handed over 1,000 bags to the checkpoints, approximately 100 wheels, 20 barrels were handed over to the military at their request, as well as clothes and medicines to the hospital. We worked with friends and helped in the Cathedral with everything we could. For 2 months, I had been volunteering with my friends at the Poltava City Council, where we helped displaced people. Separately, with friends, we provided humanitarian aid to families from different places, namely: Kotelva, Okhtyrka, Sumy, Kharkiv, Kyrykivka, Mala Pereshchepyna, Krasnopillia, Chernihiv, Trostianets, Karlivka, Bakhmut, Sloviansk, in the direction of Izium, Siversk, Sievierodonetsk, Toretsk.

Having many requests from the military, I started raising funds for their needs, and here is what has already been handed over: 10 pairs of uniforms, about 35 walkie-talkies (motorolas, baofengs), 10 bandanas, 25 panamas, 10 caps, tactical glasses, several pairs of knee pads and elbow pads, many tactical vests, tactical gloves, berets, balaclavas, 3 tactical backpacks, 20 plugs, 20 mounting sockets for cable, 100 connectors, 5 cables for programming radios, 600 m of cable for communicators on the neutral line, 2 of inventors, 2 machine batteries, medical supplies, hygiene supplies, sweets, LBE, plate carrier, 15 T-shirts, 2 chargers for walkie-talkies.

We were looking for different ways to raise funds to help our defenders. And one of these was the Sho Shop project, where we customize things, make patriotic drawings on eco-shoppers and much more. From the sale of items, we were able to close large inquiries. The goal ahead is to close four more. Public people also supported our project. We are glad that we not only started to help with the fundraising, but also to popularize Ukrainian and also eco-friendly. This was our small contribution to the country's economy.

During volunteering, I began to cooperate with various organizations and cool personalities: Poltava Battalion of the Indifferent, Defense of Poltava, Ihor Kondraiuk, Veterany Kosmichnykh Viisk (Veterans of the Space Forces), Yevhenii Bronnikov, Denys Tverdohlib, Kvadrat show, Artem Loik and incredibly active students, volunteers of the Poltava Polytechnic. Thank you all for your cooperation, we will win together with you, let's achieve our dream together!" – said Yaroslav Perederii.

Recently, the Polytechnic awarded the leaders of the youth movement of the Poltava region, and the volunteer headquarters of the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic" received a collective youth award.

Earlier, Poltava Polytechnic students raised funds for a thermal imager for the Armed Forces of Ukraine in one the evening, and university employees donated part of their wages to the needs of Ukrainian defenders.
