The Erasmus+ academic mobility programme has become not only an opportunity for students of Poltava Polytechnic to get a high-quality education abroad, but also a chance to discover new cultural and professional horizons. During the autumn semester of the academic year 2024/2025, two second-year students of the Educational and Research Institute of Finance, Economics, Management and Law, Karyna Kalnyk and Tetiana Holub, studied at the University of Applied Sciences BFI Vienna. They not only received valuable knowledge, but also discovered European culture, improved their skills and found new sources of inspiration. Therefore, they decided to continue their studies for another semester in the 2024/2025 academic year.
The experience of participating in the Erasmus+ credit mobility programme is unique for each student, as it combines not only studying in a new environment, but also exploring new cultures, meeting people from different parts of the world and personal development. Students of Poltava Polytechnic tell us about their impressions of the first semester of studying at the University of Applied Sciences BFI Vienna.
Karyna Kalnyk, 2nd year student of speciality 075 Marketing:
“The first semester at the University of Applied Sciences BFI Vienna is coming to an end, and I am happy to share my impressions of this unforgettable experience. All classes are taught in English, which is a huge advantage for me, because it not only improves my language skills, but also helps me to better understand economic terminology, which will be extremely useful in my future career.
I would like to express my special gratitude to the teachers who create a comfortable study environment. They are always ready to help, organise consultations before exams to explain complex topics and stay in touch for additional clarifications.
Another pleasant discovery was the multicultural environment of the university, where students from all over the world gathered. This not only gave us the chance to share experiences and get to know the cultural peculiarities of other countries, but also added colour to the learning process. In our International Marketing classes, we studied intercultural aspects in depth, which is extremely relevant in today's world.
I would also like to mention the incredible atmosphere of Christmas in Vienna. The festive lights, Christmas markets and local delicacies helped me to immerse myself in Austrian culture.
Studying at BFI Vienna also gave me the opportunity to travel around Europe a bit. I visited Milan and Bratislava, discovered the architectural beauty of these cities and had a lot of great experiences. These trips were both inspirational and a great refresher for me to face new challenges.
This semester has become a source of new knowledge, experience and memorable moments for me. I am immensely grateful for the opportunity to study in such a diverse environment, to receive a quality education and at the same time enjoy life in the beautiful Vienna!”

Tetiana Holub, 2nd year student of speciality 292 International Economic Relations:
“Our first semester in Vienna is coming to an end, and I can definitely say that it has been incredible – full of events, challenges and new insights.
Studying at the University of Applied Sciences BFI Vienna is an experience that has exceeded all our expectations. The university provides quality knowledge that will become the basis for our professional development. Classes are conducted in English, which has significantly improved our level of English. At the same time, being in a country where German is the official language, we are actively learning it and have made significant progress in a short time.
The teachers deserve special attention. They are all highly qualified professionals, many of whom have their own businesses or work closely with leading companies. Their practical experience adds great value to the learning process. In addition, they create a comfortable environment for students by offering convenient deadlines, treat everyone with respect and are always ready to help them understand complex materials.
During the semester, we had the opportunity to learn more about marketing, financial management, economics, business English, as well as develop teamwork and project creation skills. Lectures, seminars, group projects – all of this makes learning interactive and practical, contributing to the development of communication, analytical and leadership skills.
Our extracurricular activities were also unforgettable. We travelled around Austria, visiting Salzburg, Linz, Halstatt and other picturesque cities, as well as other countries. The spectacular scenery and cultural gems of Vienna, from its cosy cafes to world-class museums, left a deep impression on our hearts. The atmosphere of the city was especially memorable – safe, convenient and inspiring for life.
Erasmus+ academic mobility programmes are a unique opportunity that should be taken advantage of! This is not only a chance to get a quality education at two universities at the same time – Ukrainian and European – but also an opportunity to grow as a person. This programme opens up new horizons, gives lasting impressions, introduces you to the cultural diversity of the world and helps you find friends from all over the world!” says the student.
