The National Fitness Day Project was realized with Erasmus+ and the support of the Ministry of Youth and Sport of Ukraine, the All-Ukrainian Center for Physical Health “Sport for Everybody”, the Sport Committee of Ukraine, and the EuropeActive National Association.
On September 26, sport lovers, experienced athletes and young people only making first steps in sport went out for training in city parks, squares, sport grounds, cycle lanes, stadiums and gyms.
“This is the day of enjoyment from physical activity. The main task of your day is to be active. Make morning exercises, take a walk in a park, ride your bicycle, visit a gym in your town, participate in the marathon in any possible way,” the organizers said.
Students and teachers of the Faculty of Sport of National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” always take part in various sport initiatives, so they supported the active days with a large-scale flashmob in fresh air.
According to the Dean of the Faculty of Sport Nataliia Beseda, students eagerly participate in local and all-Ukrainian sport projects, promoting the physical activity and healthy lifestyle.
“We always take time to prepare for the flashmobs, learn new movements; we try to do it in a way that everybody likes. The older students also take part in the organization process, offering their creative ideas,” the Deputy Head of the Department of Physical Education of our university Tetiana Synytsia added.
The main slogan of the National Fitness Day, hashtag LetsBeActive, combined all the European values represented with the project. Ukrainians were united with Europeans in the sport activity.
The central event was held in Kyiv at the Olimpiiskyi Stadium. It was an hours-long fitness marathon.
A family quest was held by the leader of the JuniorZ Sport Movement Oleksandr Pedan. Last year, students and teachers of Polytechnic joined his project during the half-marathon in Poltava.
