The main stage of registration for participation in the main sessions of the NMT will last from 14 March to 11 April inclusive. More details on the registration process, the list of required documents, and the calendar for the main and additional sessions of the NMT-2024 can be found on the website of the Kharkiv Regional Center for Educational Quality Assessment.

On 13 March, on the eve of the start of registration for the National Multi-subject Test (NMT), a briefing on the peculiarities of the NMT in 2024 was held at the official media centre of the Poltava Regional Military Administration. The key speakers were Deputy Head of the Poltava Regional Military Administration Anton Chubenko and Director of the Kharkiv Regional Center for Educational Quality Assessment Oleksandr Sydorenko, who explained in detail the specifics of the NMT registration and entrance examination procedure, discussed innovations and security conditions for the third national multi-subject test in the context of war.

“The Poltava Regional Military Administration, in particular the Department of Education and Science, local self-governments, heads of district military administrations, teachers of general secondary education institutions in the Poltava region are directly involved in the procedure for conducting the national multi-subject test in 2024. Based on the analytical data collected, this year we have 12165 graduates in the region, which is about 12% more than last year, including 7850 graduates of general secondary education institutions, 2004 graduates of professional, vocational and technical education institutions, and 2831 graduates of professional pre-higher education institutions. I am convinced that by working together we will hold the entrance exams at the highest level, taking into account, first and foremost, the transparency of the testing and compliance with security conditions. In accordance with the above principles, our country has made a number of important decisions at the governmental level, which we, in turn, are successfully implementing at our own regional level,” – noted the Deputy Head of the Poltava Regional Military Administration Anton Chubenko.

Director of the Kharkiv Regional Center for Educational Quality Assessment Oleksandr Sydorenko spoke in more detail about the peculiarities of the third national multi-subject test under martial law, focusing on the main aspects of registration and passing the NMT entrance exams for graduates of general secondary education institutions in 2024. The briefing participants discussed the main differences between the ZNO and NMT entrance examinations, analysed the possibilities and conditions for passing the tests in temporary examination centres, which are based at the universities of Poltava and Kremenchuk.

According to Oleksandr Sydorenko, this year’s testing has a number of significant differences, which the speaker drew the attention of the audience to. In particular, the assessment tool for the subjects included in the NMT has been refined and an optional subject has been added to the list of compulsory subjects. Therefore, the NMT-2024 will contain four blocks of tasks – the Ukrainian language, mathematics, history of Ukraine and an elective subject. This decision is justified by the Rules of Admission to Higher Education Institutions and the real needs of universities, which often find it difficult to form a contingent of freshmen students based on only three compulsory subjects.

The electives offered include Ukrainian literature, a foreign language (English, German, French or Spanish), biology, chemistry, physics and geography. Participants choose a fourth NMT subject and must indicate it during registration. The fourth subject will be universal, meaning that an applicant will be able to enter any speciality with the subject of their choice.

In order to maintain security conditions, the testing for participants will take place in one day and last 240 minutes. Applicants will take the Ukrainian language and mathematics, have a 20-minute technical break, and continue to work on the next two subjects. Each subject test will take approximately 60 minutes to complete, and participants can allocate their time independently within the first and second blocks. During the break, the participant can rest, drink water, and switch psychologically, but is not allowed to use their mobile phone or other gadgets and/or printed or handwritten materials.

Unlike the ZNO, which was conducted in test notebooks and required much more time to check and evaluate the work, after completion, the participant will immediately receive information about the number of test points for each block. To obtain a result on a scale of 100 – 200 points, at least 15% of the total number of test points must be scored from each NMT block.

Next, the speaker focused on some aspects of the temporary examination centres activities, set up in the settlements of the Poltava region by the decision of the Poltava Regional Military Administration, taking into account the necessary security conditions. All temporary examination centres are equipped with shelters, and testing will be suspended during air raid alerts. Oleksandr Sydorenko strongly advised the participants and their parents not to disclose where and when the testing will take place, as the safety of the participants and the NMT organisers may depend on it.

As for those who will be taking the test abroad, temporary examination centres will also be set up in some European countries. Their list will soon be published on the website of the Kharkiv Regional Center for Educational Quality Assessment.

To ensure information security, it is planned to use metal detectors when participants are admitted to the testing room together with video monitoring in the classrooms during the test.

The attendees also asked how applicants can prepare for the tests now, using the demonstration and simulation tests published on the website of the Kharkiv Regional Center for Educational Quality Assessment. According to Oleksandr Sydorenko, the texts presented allow the participants to get acquainted with the structure of the tests and the approximate difficulty of the tasks as well as to practise their performance.

The participants of the briefing also focused on the main points of registration and passing the national multi-subject test, which can be done online or with the help of the specialists of the consulting points at the temporary examination centres.

It should be recalled that registration for the National Multi-Subject Test is starting at Poltava Polytechnic, and college graduates have the opportunity to take the UPEE if they wish.

Recently, the staff of Poltava Polytechnic was awarded for its work with gifted youth and cooperation with Poltava Regional Junior Academy of Sciences, and scientists of Poltava Polytechnic joined the jury of the second stage of the competition defence of research papers of the Junior Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.
